What's everyone's favorite music to listen to? I'm looking to expand my iTunes and listen to more types of music, so if you have any input on what you like, post it up here for everyone to share. I'm into everything basically, but I feel there is so much more out there to hear about. Some music I listen to includes:

Interesting mix you got there. While I have great respect for the Doors, I don't really care for anything on your list. I despise rap with a passion. Especially today, where it isn't about anything real. No one in the "hood" or "projects" can relate to Escalades with 24" wheels. It started out being music about how hard life is and now its about how big your wheels are, how much money you have, and how many *****es you've slapped.

My favorite bands are..
Slipknot, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Mudvayne, Mushroomhead, Chimaira, Devil Driver, Demon Hunter, Sancitity, Trivium, Pantera, Down, Gizmachi, Black Label Society, Hellyeah, Nothingace, Damageplan, Rob Zombie, Tool, ...and a whole bunch of other metal bands.

I don't really get into the death metal, but more the guitar oriented stuff.
 
for road trips gotta have some (lots actually)
Clapton, Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan, Allman Bros, Dire Straits, Johnny Cash, Taj Mahal, Willie Nelson, Johnny A, and a tiny bit of James Taylor and Buddy Guy

I mean I listen to all kinds of music, sans screamo rock. I used to dabble in country music quite a bit, but I figured I'm over that stage now. And I agree with you 4runnin... I am no fan of rap about big booty b!tches and slappin' h0es or any of that crap, but I do have respect for ingenious lyrics from certain rappers (whether they are top of the charts or extremely underground). But music is about personal taste so I was just opening up my musical interests to others in an effort to spread the word on what we think is good music
 
I enjoy country, rap, and rock. I tend to lean towards more classic rock such as Lynard Skynard, The Eagles, and Journey.
 
Can't say I'm much of a Rap fan either. The band's I listen to are: Slightly Stoopid, 311, Dave Matthews Band, O.A.R., Dispatch, The Expendables, Rebelution, the b Foundation, Pepper, P-Nuckle, Chapter 11, Ben Harper, and of course, the one and only, Bob Marley.
 
If you hate the nonsense lyrics that's on "today's" rap, try Lupe Fiasco. There's many more, rap isn't dead. I like everything except for country.
 
Well this should be an interesting and well diversed thread. Personally I love big booty *****es, but I would never slap one....maybe a slap on the booty, but them *****es either like being slapped or cant feel it because of all the junk.

Anywho, I love all types of reggae, mainly Dancehall and Lovers Rock. I basically like "bounce" music...anything that makes you move and shake it.

HipHop: I will leave this one alone since, lots of people will comment on this.

Lovers Rock: This is the R & B version of reggae. Its about love, how to treat a lady and everything in between. Try search some of these names to expand your horizon.

Dancehall is the equivalent to Hip Hop. Actually, Hip hop was born out of the Jamaican dancehalls of the late 60's and early 70's. Try search these names for a change in tune. They include:

Finally- Island Music. This is Hawaiian-centered music. There are two major groups that I use for Hawaiian music. The first group is called "tirsty" music which are the country version of Hawaiian music. I call it "tirsty" because it is the music we listen to after work. Tirsty music = miller time. The second group of Hawaiian music I like is called "Jamz". Basically, this would be a more contemporary-style dancing kind of music. You cant really dance to Tirsty music, it is more of an ambiance, whereas Jamz music you can get down to.

i'm mostly rock and metal. i grew up in what you can call the "ghetto" and i agree some rap is just plain stupid. it was a big change for me to start listening to rock and metal but i like it. but not all rap is stupid. there are still a few rap performers out there that talk about life and not fitting the biggest rim possible on an escalade or hummer.

I like all of these artists except for Nickelback. How did nickelback get in there !:biggrin2: New linkin park stuff is decent and respect to lavigne for non-pop stuff. Oh well to each his own
 
Lots of high energy music... but I do like other genres.

Tiesto, Encore, Kaskade, Jes, Ercola, Kim Sozzi, David Guetta, Iio, Cascada, Bellatrax, Nalin and Kane, Plumb, Sun Freaks, etc.

Other generes, Panic! at the Disco, OAR, Linkin Park, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Yellowcard, etc.

Another interesting thread might be "least favorite music"..... I could go on and on.

Its not just rap that I've grown irritated with. Its today's songwriting in general. I feel that most of the metal that I listen to comes from real angst and is about things that a lot of people can relate to, even if you can't understand the words or just don't like it in general. But outside of metal, and honestly country, I feel that songwriting as a whole is getting stupid. I mean we get it Hinder and Buckcherry... you like girls and drugs. For the most part mainstream rock is all the same garbage BS in my opinion. I'm 22 years old and I already feel too old to be listening to music that is only about relationships, and rich dudes complaining about how bad their life sucks (see Theory of a Dead Man's new single "I hate my life.").

Yup. Haha, you wouldn't know... just like how I don't recognize anyone on your list with the exception of a couple names from the second group.

yup those sound like house bands. I never could get into house music, it just seems so loud to me. My opinion of course.

Not many people know about Mac Dre. He's the s*** though for real. I'm from the bay area so he's slappin in everyones trunk around here.
