Thought you all might want to see these, especially those yearning for snow. Also, the Michelin Cross Terrain tires perform quite well.

Nice truck. It is nice to see another Dorado Gold 4Runner. Very nice color. Those are great pictures. It looks very nice in Alaska. Unfortunately, I forgot how it feels to have that white stuff around you. So far, only one minor (1 inch) snowstorm in New Jersey when we usually have 15 inches of snowfall by now. By the way, did you test your truck out on those nice snowdrifts on the side of the road?? :

Thanks for the compliments. Actually the color looks better in more light (but I will have to wait a few more weeks for longer days). Wish mine had a hood scoop like yours, but believe it or not I did not want the XREAS. Your SE looks awesome though!

No, I did not test the snow drifts, especially not at the 60+ MPH I was driving. However, before the roads were plowed I had a little fun in 8-10 inches, but not at 60 MPH! A lot of times weather determines how I drive in snow... in warmer conditions, say >20 deg F, I take it pretty easy, but on hardpack at <5 deg (without direct sunlight), I drive normal speed and allow myself much increased slowing distance. I know it sound crazy to be driving that fast on snow, but its normal around here--most people here have learned the technique quite well...

Nice 4Runner and great pictures. Kind of reminds me of Scofco's 4ROTM pictures. I found your comment about cross terrians intersesting. Thai said Cross Terrians are terrible in the snow, yet Michelen says they are good. I wouldn't know if they work good, since I have only had Cross Terrians for 2 years. And it hasn't snowed in Atlanta in 2 years. :bouncy:

Yeah,

Cross Terrains seem to be getting a bad wrap from a few people. I can't help but wonder if they have ever driven them in snow. I've been driving them in snow, on some of the wost roads in North America for three months now, and really have no complaints. If I have a complaint about them it is that they don't give the truck an aggressive look.

But, the most aggressive looking tires I ever had (on my 93 4R) were BFG All Terrains. Man, they just looked like they would grip anything--yet, they were the worst tire I ever had; slipped like crazy on snow, clogged up in mud, buzzed like a swarm of bees on the highway, and got 5 flat tires during the time I had them. So, I know looks can be deceiving...

Nice pics..... I only wish we had some white stuff in my part of New York.

New York State is a funny place.... every winter, there is what I call a "snow line" where everything to the north stays white until spring. And everything south (where I live) goes back and forth between snow and no snow.

Congratulations! Well deserved. I love reading about your extreme weather equipped 4th gen.

Maybe we should merge the different threads to have all the great pics in one 4ROTM thread. Just a suggestion.

......which is another reason to merge the threads.....he said in the Extreme Cold Pics thread that he has an oil pan heater. Which I realize isn't an answer to your question, but is definitely related.
