Is there any way to get locking and unlocking hubs for the front our our 4th gens without doing a SAS?

Why would you want that? You have power deliver to the shafts. You would need to start by changing the transfer case. You are talking some serious money at that point. Maybe a v6 would better suit you since they are part time 4wd?

I have a v6 but I know the front drive shaft still spins even in 2wd, by having the locking hubs I would be able to get better gas mileage and cut down the wear on front end components

NO and YES.

I did this on my old 4runner, talking 20 year old 4 runner, and I noticed NO decrease in MPG. That is an urban myth in mechanics. Your truck engine is pushing several thousand pounds.... and that front half shaft is designed to not drag.

As for wear. Sure. It will reduce wear. Honestly... after having done this.... you won't see any serious gain. If you wanna do it, go for it.. but my personal opinion is you give up on the fly shifting for 4wd which is a better gain.

Never thought about the on the fly shifting, it is nice not to have to get out and turn the hubs like on my old 89 toyota pickup

Yea. On the GO 4wd shifting is great. Saved my butt several times...

Honestly, you will go through a CV joint or two, but they are not that expensive.
