Weird. All these varying vibration issues. Mines an 03 V6 and I have been unable to eliminate my vibration problems through the dealer, suspension shop, tire stores, or Field Service Tech.
The first problem is a vibration or what some might characterize as a missfire or bounce in the motor while in park/neutral (idle). For example, when started on a cold morning, the motor thumps a little every 1 or 2 seconds and it vibrates the vehicle. It does it when warm also but changes character some. Sometimes it's faint and hardly noticeable.
The other issue is vibration or mild "shudder" that comes through the steering column when driving. Very irritating. At high speeds it's more tolerable because the high frequency seems to smooth it out. It's almost like a buzz at the high speeds.
The two might be related? Maybe the engine is the culprit and when in neutral it transmits through one area of the vehicle, but when driving, drivetrain is engaged and transmits to other areas also?
The Field Service Tech hooked up the harmonic sensor equipment and found nothing, and said if it doesn't point them anywhere, they have no idea what to look for. Nothing they can do. He did say that he could feel what I was talking about but thought it to be mild and not unusual.
That is the worst dilemna to be in. Mild enough to not get fixed, strong enough to force me to get rid of it. Now I'm shopping for another ride. I must suck it up and take a big loss on an otherwise great ride.
