My brother-in-law recently picked up a used Sequoia SR5 last year. It's a nice cruiser and very smooth. It didn't handle as heavy as I thought, very tight and responsive for a vehicle its size. It was quiet yet very responsive to the throttle. It never felt over lumbering. I just can't get over the styling though. Just my opinion but I think the Seqouia is just plain bland looking if not slightly fugly. I can't stand those black D-pillars. It looks like every other SUV on the road. I hope the next gen Sequoia looks more aggressive. Of course, I'm using the 4Runner's styling cues to base my reference but if you take the two and park them side by side (at the risk of comparing apples to oranges and not considering the mechanical aspects) the 4runner looks much more visually attractive.

The 5.7L going into the Sequoia? So what happens to the Land Cruiser? I've read reports the legendary LC is going down. Toyota should kill the Sequoia name. Call the replacement as a Land Cruiser and sell it at the Sequoia price range.

Most likely the next gen Sequoia will get the 5.7 V8. The Sequoia was essentially a DoubleCab Tundra with a shell over the bed. Lexus already released details for the '08 LX570.

I disagree with you. The Land Criuser can be discontinued, but it would be a foolish mistake on Toyota's part if they were to rebadge the next Sequoia as a TLC. The TLC is lengendary world-wide as being one of the most capable SUVs. Take a look at what the Middle East drives in the deserts. The Land Cruiser and Corolla name has the longest history with Toyota and I doubt Toyota will abandon or badge those two nameplates with a subpar vehicle, not that the Sequoia is junk by any means (just don't see Toyota designing a large North America only SUV and using the TLC name to boost sales). If they do put those two legendary names on vehicles that don't live up to the past generation(s), then Toyota hasn't learn squat in the 50 years they've been in the US. Look at Ford, they abandoned Taurus for 500 and the 500 never sold many units and now the Taurus name is back. Chevy and the Impala name, the current Impala is nothing compared to what it's hot rod predecessor was nor is the popularity.

Be that as it may, I had more random "nice car!" comments on the Sequoia in 4 days than 4 months would have produced in my 03 and 05 Ltd 4Runners for whatever reasons. I'm a sucker for the more traditionally lines SUV lines....ie 3rd gen 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Sequoia. The 4rth gen 4Runner looks sportier, the Sequoia looks more imposing.....as to which is "more attractive;" too subjective IMO. The white one I drove looks fuggin awesome to me, no comparisons needed.

05+ Seqs with the updated grille and tailights look slicker than earlier models, as do 06+ 4R's.

A lot of people have been using the "more power to you" quote, as in if you like two tone paint more power to you or if you like the other suv more power to you.

It does not make sense.

simply means that if it is your style then "run with it" and enjoy yourself. I know what I like and North knows what he likes. All different tastes but something for everyone to enjoy :

Yup, no car manufacturer would ever make a car that no one likes, (some people even bought the Pontiac Aztec) Im sure there are PLENTY of people out there that do not like the 4Runner. If north likes it then good for him, I know he is not alone (personally it is a little big for my taste). Im sure it is a MUCH better car than the expedition navigator and tahoe as well.

I sometimes confuse the Sequoia as a 4Runner, especially both 06+ models. Both look similar at a distance.

5.7L into the Sequoia with very Tundra-esq styling is what I've heard so far.

Landcruiser remains and gets an update and the new motor as well (just renderings so far):

Other than the License plate looks like it has a small tinge of some European flair to it, I kinda dig!

That looks more like an update to the "Euro" landcruiser prado, which is basically the same now as the Lexus GX in the US.

I assume the new US landcruiser will look similar to the new Lexus LX that was unveiled this week in New York.

IMO, however, both have exteriors that look rather pedestrian and bland. I'd hate the Landcruiser to become the Blandcruiser.
