Fender liner removal questions

Hey guys, its been a little while....

but I'm getting ready to install my snorkel and today I attempted to get the inner fender liner out of the way. So thats a little harder than it sounds apparently and I eventually gave up. I have limited flares which makes it a little more interesting...anyone have any experience getting that sucker off of there?

Yeah they're not easy. You can actually get to most of the clips from the back/bottom/engine bay, but I still can't tell you an easy way to compress the backside of the clips to squeeze them other than patience and using every single tool you possess in your garage. I bought a set of surgical clips, bent needle nose pliers, needle nose plies, and tried several other "tools" both manufactured and self-invented, and still ended up losing several of the clips to "the cause". My advice would probably be just to break them out and pick up some new ones. Do some looking around on the internet and you'll find some places that carry all sorts of different clips. Good Luck.

Holy smokes dude! I didn't know such a site existed...they sell clips! Great find...and thanks for the advice! I'll tackle it soon...

I have another option.
Pull the inner fender off the Clips. They will pull thru the holes in the plastic. Leave the clips in place. Using washers and screws to reattach the inner fender. Just screw into the plastic clips.

I recommend getting new ones, whatever the cost. I had mine out a few weeks ago. I went through every possibility in my mind, including patient removal, and I must say nothing beats the satisfaction of popping new clips in.

Good news! Its a pain, but I did the snorkel install without removing the liner at all. I pulled the clips from the engine bay side of the liner, but left all the fender side clips in place, then I just manhandled the liner out of the way. I also removed the wheel to make more room. Like I said, it was a pain to get to everything, but I didn't break any clips and the snorkel is on. Now I have to figure out what to do with that power antenna...
