Im pretty sure i have seen that 4runner around in Asheville before. my guess would be the woman had to get to work or something and borrowed it.... not knowing how to engage 4wd or anything.

either way a good laugh in the morning.
 
It's sad but true so many people who own 4x4's don't have a freakin clue how to use them. I think a fairly high percentage of 4x4's don't ever see the off-road. It absolutely kills me when I see these awesome rigs on the streets driven by some soccer moms, but many of the dudes driving them are probably not much better.

I have a friend who recently bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a lift and upgraded suspension and I bet the only time it will go into 4 wheel drive is when she goes up to the snow with her family and it will most likely never see the dirt. It will mainly serve to run errands around town and drop her kids off to school. I think she bought it because it looks cool. What a waste of machinery.

That's such a horrible choice for a daily driver, too. Those things have been rated as one of the most unreliable vehicles in the entire U.S. Not to mention roll-happy

To be fair if only "people who used them off road" bought 4x4s, the sales volume would be so low that companies probably wouldn't make them or the price would be so high that most of us wouldn't be able to afford them.

If you apply this logic to other types of cars (sports cars, muscle cars, hot hatches, most pickups) you'd eliminate many cars from the road and replace them with civics, camarys, CRVs, RAV4s, etc. You'd only have the cars that are basic reliable transportation, which would be dull.

Let people drive what they want to drive; it ain't your money.
