Few (hopefully simple) Questions

a few things i wanna ask here...im new to the forum (as far as input) but i been comin to them for a while, I own a 2nd gen 93 SR5 3.0L Manual...all stock =(

recently I have been having problems w/ it starting up, at times it doesnt turn over... the Battery and Alternator are fairly new. I heard that 4runners have starter problems...but the guy who told me this im not sure if hes really a creadible source. But the battery mounts get an increadible ammout of corrosion build up, so idk if i need a new batter or what maybe problems w/ sparks or distributing the power from them i have no clue (im really new to this) i recently replaced the Terminals becuse the corrosion eventually started to crack the old ones reguardless of how often i cleaned. The car has 189k miles, i heard of them running over 300k miles and its been kept up for the most part so i dont think it should be dieing on me yet!

so if anyone has any suggestions about that or anyone in the Sacramento-Modesto area knows of any good T4R shops that can take a look at it I would greatly apprieciate it, because im just getting into cars and my mechanic skills arnt even novice, they dont exist....yet ;-)

for my 2nd question...soon (after i get my car starting every time) i plan on doing so suspension/tire work on it
as i said its all stock. Im considering the Old Man Emu lift because its fairly cheap and i heard very reliable, I also plan on getting some AR 15" but i wanna know, Should i get 4" suspension lift (i dont 4wheel yet but i plan on it in the future as I have a few friends w/ jeeps) or a 2.5" lift, and if i go w/ the 2.5" am I limited to 31" tires or would 33" fit, i plan on starting off w/ 31" A/T's but I eventually want to go on to 33" M/T when I actually get more into 4wheeling...

any input would be appriciated hopefully everything will workout to my liking and i will actually have a nice rig to show off to you guys =D

OK, does the starter crank but the engine doesn't start? or does the starter not turn?

As for corrosion, make sure both the battery terminals and all the ground wires are clean and tight.

I think you need more than 2" of lift to fit 33"s on a 2nd gen, at least if you don't want them to rub all the time. Not positive though. OME will give you the best ride and handling of any suspension available (better than new).

hmm ill have to check it out
im in college now livin in the dorms so i dont start it everyday (no real need to) as for battery the terminals are fine, new and tighened, maybe ill check the ground wires

i figure ill just go out and buy the 4" lift tho, no need to get a 2 and then wind up deciding to replace it if i do decide on moving up. if i can get it to be reliable enough that is

thanks for the input alot :) ill be sure to check that out

and nice ride! i love the 84's

If it doesnt crank over at al you have a starter issue. As for your lift issue I have a 94 with 31's on it with stock suspension and they dont rub at all. The 33's would fit fine I believe with either the OME or the 4" lift. Just remember though if you got up in size with the tires especially with the 3.0 I would highly consider re-gearing your rig. Just because the 3.0 is gutless as it is let alone turning a 33" tire.

hmm yea that makes sense...
as for the lift/ tire issue im kinda at a confused point lol
im still unsure of what tires/lift ill get when that day does come (hopefully within the next couple of months) ill just have to keep researching and seein what comes up

thanks for the input you guys ;-)
