hah yeah the car's computer can only hold like 3-4 remotes. for 57 bucks i thought it was a steal. and since i had to give up a key for my viper remote start module i figured i could use an additional key. The cool thing about this is that and well the only con about this is that the panick button is just a dummy, but still i dont really need it so i dont mind

I got some keys cut at the dealer.. it was only like 7 bucks... they cut it from the vin #... you dont even need to have a key with you to get one cut.. I guess this would be useful if you where out of town and lost your keys.. although you do have to prove ownership of the vehicle for them to do it....

Move120, I'm not a big fan of wood gain kit period (just not my thing), but I will admit, the switchblade key fob is a unique touch.
What's the weight of the switchblade key fob compared to that of the toyota factory lock/unlock remotes? I know we're speaking in ounces here, but does the switchblade key weigh a considerable amount more than the oem key fob?
Reason I ask is, when the switchblade is inserted into the ignition, it appears to stick 2.5 inches or so out from the ignition. With that said, I'd be worried that the added stress being placed on the ignition by the additional weight of the switchblade key fob + any additional keys that may be dangling 2.5 inches further out than normal would cause premature failure to the ignition.
I myself have the standard factory key & remote, plus 6 other keys currently on my key ring. I'm wonding that by using a switchblade key, would I have to carry around my additional keys separate from the switchblade or could they all be on the same key ring?
Is this cause for any real concern or am I simply over analysizing this? Granted, I do not foresee a switchblade key in my immeadiate future, but you never know...it would make for a good birthday gift

it seems pretty durrable.
but personally i tried just hooking up my viper remote starter fob to it and it just felt too tacky so i put a single TRD key chain on it and i just carry around two sets of keys, but see i mainly got it for looks. hahah i was talking with a few frat brothers and they saw my switchblade hangin outta my pocket and they were all like DAMNNNN haha pretty funny

as for the transponder, it worked like a charm. you have to do the steps right to configure it but the key only came with programming instructions for the remote**
Here is how to program the transponders:
Programming spare keys: for 1998 to 2002
1.. Copy the cuts of the original working key onto the appropriate
transponder blank.
2.. Enter the car and close all of the doors.
3.. Simultaneously depress and release both the brake and accelerator pedals.
4.. Within five seconds, insert a working pre-programmed key into the ignition cylinder, and turn to the "on" position.
5.. Within fifteen seconds of turning the ignition, depress and release
the accelerator pedal five times for a primary key. (Depress and release four times for a valet key.)
6.. Within twenty seconds, depress and release the brake pedal six times for a primary key. (Depress and release only times for a valet key.)
7.. Turn the ignition to the "off" position and immediately remove the
key.
8.. Within ten seconds of removing the key, insert the new key and turn it to the "on" position.
9.. Within ten seconds, depress and release the accelerator pedal once. The security light will then flash for 60 seconds and then turn off. When the security light stops flashing the programming should be complete.
10.. Start the vehicle to verify that programming was successful.
FOR 2002+
1.Make sure all doors and windows are closed.
2.Insert master key into the ignition cylinder.
3.Cycle the ignition cylinder from ON to OFF 5 times.
4.Open and close the driver side door 6 times.
5.Remove the master key and insert the new duplicate key.
6.DO NOT TURN THE IGNITION CYLINDER ON
7.The new key will be registered after 60 seconds.The THEFT light on the
dashboard will go out,indicating that programming has been completed.
"some 2002 will work using the 1998+ programming."
for the remote:
