Fightman's Labour Day Weekend trip to Laforest

Hey folks! I decided to take this last weekend to have a "Guys Weekend". Me and a buddy of mine packed up a couple of quads, some gear and my tent trailer and headed up the Capreol Highway. After the pavement ended, we got to a dirt road that turned into a single lane cow path...lol! The trail led us into some pretty rough road and into the pole line Hydro roads. Not such a big deal, but with a Tent Trailer in tow...it was entertaining! Quite funny to see the trailer bouncing into the air everytime we'd hit a big bump! Anyway, we tried to a good spot to camp near a lake, and ended up going farther than we intended on.....eventually....we ended up about 10 miles away from Thor Lake, and just outside of Laforest.

I'd have more pics, but the camera crapped out after we had a can of Pepsi explode in the back of the Honda Rubicon's Storage trunk..... >:(

So umm... Whats up with the beer bottles on the ground?!
 
Nice toilet. Yeah, what's up with the beer cans? There's not even a twelve pack there! That pile should have been knee high between the two of you.
 
Nice! I have 3 of those red gas cans you have, but I lost 2 of the yellow caps to them so only 1 can hold gas without spilling lol. Looks like a fun trip!
 
Yes, the vacation masta is back in action!! Looks like a beautiful spot! I so need to get up to the Great White North soon. It's been 10 years since I was in Canada when I went backpacking in Waterton Lakes/Glacier National Park back in '01. Such amazing country up there!

Is that frost in the beer bottle pic?

We were just collecting them there during the weekend....on the last day we picked them all up and put them back in the cases/coolers (I just hate looking for a beer, only to keep picking up empties!! lol!)

There was no frost on the ground.....that was just some light green (almost white) moss....

Thanks for the props on the toilet too. I've got a bit of an issue with my guts, (I'm missing my entire colon), so I go to the can alot....lol! Might as well be comfortable!

Overall great weekend. We did have some issues....like my brand new camera crapping out, running out of propane in the small tanks for the mini BBQ (we just cooked steaks on the fire), and a small trail mishap...(ran over some kind of rusty wire in the pole line, which got tangled around the rear axle of the quad). All were no big issues though....and were easily solved!
 
Looks like a great time. Gotta have a good dudes weekend every once and a while. Good soul food.

Do it Brian! Waterton is gorgeous, I live less than an hour from there. Next time you come up, drive the 4Runner and I'll take you on some trails just behind Waterton Park.

I'd love to take you up on that! When I was there in '01 I actually found a fire road that went from Montana to Canada and we crossed the border without even realizing it until later. Who knows if that road is still open, but I thought it was pretty cool. Good thing I'm not a smuggler!
 
Thanks for all the comments guys! You know, I belong to a few forums, one of which is a local one. You'd think people would have the courtesy to do like you guys, and post positive comments about my trip......NO! I get "If you want to get that truck dirty sometime....post some pics!" or "This should be in a the General Chat Forum" I put it under a darn "Run Pics" section! I guess I have to wheel my truck in order to post in "Run Pics", Quads don't count???

Anyway, thanks again for the comments! Glad to know that at least you guys are supportive! lol! Just sucks that people so close to me locally are such douches!

I think I may know the road you are talking about! Or one very similar, there are so many... Or if ou were smuggling, you wouldn't wanna tell us anyways... Hahaha

It's a deal, I'll come to Cali and wheel with you and you can come to Canada (B.C. And Alberta) and I'll be your tour guide.

Threadjack over. Nothing wrong with a clean truck Fightman!! In the woods or not. Most people don't even think I wheel my truck cause it's never spotted dirty. Dirt/mud isn't a trophy to prove I wheel, it's a neusance that ruins things!!
