Final Thoughts on Manual Swap

I am curious as my spedo still seems to register even though nothing is connected to the new manual 5 speed . Also any ideas on swapping in a manual ECU and wire harness ... would I need to have the VIN and odometer reading updated to natch the old automatic ECU.

Speedo uses the ABS wheel speed sensors on ABS equipped 3rd gens, so that's normal.

Depending on year, you can just modify your cluster to look like an MT cluster - all you need to do is remove the gear indicators or black them out.

VIN and mileage is not stored in the ECU so you are good there. Search on the wire harness and ECU's and whether it's a must to swap or not. My limited knowledge of the subject remembers some do and some don't but you'll have a Check Engine Light on if you don't as it's looking for an auto with shift solenoids and all that which isn't there anymore.
