Finally, a darn 12v socket that works all the time

This darn near perfect 2003 4R, has a lame 12v system front and rear. I want to be able to charge my cell, or any other device without the key in(ign). My mazda is the same way. My VW is not, and is a welcome sight.

Since you can't just do a mod like you can on the Tundra, I was at a little loss. i saw the previous post on adding a little fuse/extension to the fuse block. For some reason I didn't go that route.

I pulled a new line to the engine compartment and pulled 12v from the main fuse box. Wire through the firewall via the hood release hole, and pulled the wire to the center console(5min job). Bought a 12v female outlet, drill a small hole in the console box, double side taped it to the wall, connect 12v wire and very convienent ground.
Now i have a 12v live, fused with 30amps.
Inside the console box, i also velcro'd my 110v converter to the side wall. Now with the 12v live, the converter is quickly plugged in (has it's own switch) when i want.
