Finally got the lift installed

So five months out of a lumbar back fusion I finally decided to install my lift, parts laying around for almost a year!

I was really surprised how easy it went!!
After all these threads about it being difficult and all, but I guess I cheated. Last week I assembled my front struts, Tundra bilstiens and OME 881 springs. Then today I installed them. Took a little over two hours and that was with plenty of stand up and stretch breaks!!

I'm kinda worried because it was so easy, I didn't even half to push down on the lower control arm or upper to get new shocks installed, they just fell right down after loosening the upper control arm bolts and removing the sway bar ends.

Front is sitting at 23-1/2
Rears will be tomorrow, I'm feeling good but know pain will sneak up on me real quick if I'm not careful.

Pictures tomorrow!!

Nice job, I strongly suggest sawzalling your old rear shocks. The top nuts are a pain in the ass. Also remove the spare tire before working on it, gives you so much more room. Post pictures when your done.

Congrats, you're going to love it! I'm happy to hear you are feeling better as well, happy healing friend.

Thanks a ton!!
It's actually my third surgery in as many years! I'm DONE with it!! Time to get back to actually living a life again.

Glad you're up and about and making progress. Looks like fall finally arrived for us. It was good to have some rain this weekend.

What springs and shocks are you using on the rear? This is the same front setup I'm wanting

So I'm going with bilstien 5100 in the rear along with OME 891's, I wasn't expecting the front to sit so high at 23-1/2 so I'm kinda worried now...lol

I did mount the front tundras on the second perch not the bottom, so if it doesn't sit right I can always remove and lower them to the first.

Yeah I think that burst of rain gave me the energy to get things going:rofl:

So hey at some point I'd like to maybe talk with ya about the trip your going to take next spring/summer. I wouldn't be able to make the whole 2 weeks but would love to try and explore some of the cascades with you.

That's EXACTLY what I was going to do. I'm very excited to see how this turns out.

I'll post pictures either tomorrow or on Wednesday, I have to play everything by ear right now, for all I know I won't be able to walk tomorrow...lol, but it will be done very soon so keep an eye out for the pic's!!

Don't push, sounds like you're doing much better. I'll be patient lol

Thank you everybody for the good thoughts! Far too many of you out there know what I'm going through with back pain/surgeries and I'm sure you'd all agree, you wouldn't wish it upon even your worst enemy!

But I gotta tell you, you learn to enjoy the simple things in life, and being able to wrench on my rig instead of paying a mechanic is a wonderful feeling!!

Glad to hear you got the front in, Tim.

If you're at 23 1/2" up front without the rear raised, do not be surprised to see a drop of at LEAST 1/2" over the next couple months.

When you raise the rear you'll shift a bit more weight to the front, and as you drive the springs will settle a bit.

Also if you have a stock bumper, or rock bumper with out a winch. Adding one will push the drop.

I'm running the Sonoran Steel system 1.2 and I had almost an inch of sag with the bumper and winch. With my skid plates, I'm not concerned over the loss though.

Sounds good. I'm still in the planning stages. A.Wilson013 did this trip two years ago. Once he gets his Icon's all figured out I'll get some info from him. My climbing partner might be flying out from Md for this trip. I think you can bail out up around Glacier Peak to keep it to a week. We've got time.

If you run into a pickle with the rear shocks, I took tomorrow off (rebuilding a 2az camry motor for my son) I could always run out there and give you a hand. PM me. Everything you've read about the rear shocks is true. Definite pain.

Well guys, she's done!!

Took about id say another two hours to get the rear in, I got lucky and just twisted the rear driver shock till it broke off....lol

Thanks MandAtaco for the rears, everything worked out good!
