Finally!! I joined the club :)

I've been lurking for 2+ years and finally got a 2011 Magnetic Gray 4WD Limited 4Runner. It came with Navigation, Cargo Cross Bars, Floor Mats and Exhaust Tip.

Planned Mods: Stubby Antenna (mangowalk), Tint, Horn (FIAMM) and Tires (Hankook DynaPros ATm). I might consider a lift at some point also.

I would like to thank members of this forum for their insightful posts regarding purchasing, maintaining and overall experience with the 5th Gens. You guys are great and this forum is awesome! I'd like to give special thanks to harper7, BFLAN, orthoboy, cyclops, fxoffroad and snow&surf. Their rigs inspired me.

I love this rig, no regrets whatsoever!

So what's the deal with those houses? Are they all townhouses? Your garage is obviously separated from your neighbor's garage by an interior wall, but the house across the street appears to have one garage door for a 2-car garage townhouse. That's so weird.

Townhome style condo's. The building across the street has two units each with separate 2-car garages. One of the garage doors we see head on, the other we see its side which is directly behind the 4Runner. The two different styles are due to two different communities in one complex. Gives the complex less of an apartment complex type look.

I have the same stock rig...or had....until I started reading this forum. Because of this darn forum, my antenna magically got shorter, the horn became more manly...and the list is just starting! :thumb3:

Okay, I see what you're saying. I've never seen a condo/townhouse set up like that. So I guess the people who live across the street from you have to share the driveway.

I saw that recent thread as well. Hard to tell - I guess I didn't have a way to compare my '11 OEM horn with the '10 horn.

I confess, I saw the the talk of how easy and cheap the horn upgrade was and jumped on the band wagon. $20 mod - so no big deal. Besides, who wouldn't want to own a horn with the name "El Grande"?! :biggrin2:

The 2010 horn sounds like it belongs on a 1975 Corolla. It's really lame and not at all what you'd expect to hear from a 4Runner. Looks like Toyota finally realized that they need to put a real horn on the 4Runner!

Yep, it is starting to sound that way. This thread made me go back and test the horns and compare. As the results and subsequent parts talk in the Fiamm Horn Install thread show is that the 2011 horn is a different one than the 2010 folks have.

I'm glad I changed out the horns in that it forced me to dig around in the engine compartment more than I usually would, so it was a good learning experience (although fairly minor) - but it does now seem like it was an unneeded mod in retrospect.

Thanks all. I tried the horn yesterday. It's adequate for now, which moves it down the list of mods.

5" Stubby is already on, haven't noticed a difference in reception. Looks so much cleaner.

Welcome from a fellow 'just joiner'. Nice truck, and particularly have seat heater envy. Wonder if that's an addable option on my Trail?

Two Mods on my so far: Killed the weenie horn, and ordered multiban stubbie antenna.

Next Mods: FInd some sliders, Winch.

Nice Ltd! I thought hard about getting the color. It looks great.

My dealer starting to put my new plates in 2 chrome frames with the dealer name on them. Asked to omit them, said no problem I hate dealer stickers more.

On a side note, the front plate really needs a factory plate bracket/frame for plate states. I've got a new one from an Audi on mine. Did not want the plate to rub directly on the plate. Really with I could have installed it with 3M tape before they drilled the holes in the bumper cover.
