Finally Installed My Headrest TV's!

I got them at Circuit City for $280.00 :biggrin2:, I love Going out of business sales! They are Audiovox Movies2Go screens. One has a DVD player and the other is a slave screen. They come with replaceable leather covers that are all different colors so you can change them to match your interior.

The only thing that bugged me was the fact that the only auxilary input was on the front of each screen. I wanted to drive them from my Pioneer AVIC-D3 headunit by running the video cable through the headrest post. I decided to take them apart and hack together a solution. They work wonderfully, I ran power form my speaker amp under my seat through a relay hooked up to the amp turn-on lead so the screens only have power when the radio is on (no drained batteries, yay!). I stuffed the brain under the center console along with all of the wiring.

I forgot to take pictures during the install but it was pretty straight forward, the hardest part was adding the extra Aux input. All I did was disassemble the screens remove the Aux input board and soldered a VGA cable to the inputs on that board, fed it through the headrest post and presto added Aux input.:bigok:

Next up:

TRD Tundra 231mm (the big ones) brake upgrade

Viper 5901 Remote Start/Alarm

Rancho My Ride Adjustable damping system along with Rancho 9000Pros rear, King Coilovers in front.

This is going to be a Looooong weekend.:zoom:

Heres some pics.:biggrin2:

screens turned out good.

if you were a bit closer, i would offer to give you a hand w/ some of the other stuff, but my weekend is way too booked to make that drive and be able to spend anytime helping out.

Thanks for the offer Stick, it's understandable.

I wish I hit the lotto, I've had stuff accumulating for the last three months and I am finally finding time to get around to it. Hopefully I will be able to enjoy it all soon. We've got to set up a So Cal get together or something.

toys!! oh my gosh i would be spazzing out if i had all that schnazz sitting around not installed.

I am spazzing, and I just remembered that I have to finish tuning my Jet Skis before I can stick the runner in the garage.

P.S. another mod is going to be mirrors so I can watch the T.V.'s while they are behind my head, while driving too. Real Safe.....

sweet, shoulda bought two more for hater vision so you could roll your back glass down and really force people to watch lol

We really should.. there are enough people on here....

maybe we could do something the weekend of Toyotafest ... its mostly cars, but there are always a few truck/suv's there as well.

juice, with all of those projects, you should take some crazy detailed pictures and make some write ups!!! i know ive been wanting to do the break upgrade, and any and all write ups would be a massive help. even the alarm and lift too!!!

When it's late and I am having trouble staying awake on a trip. I'll sometimes try to identify movies on the DVD's of other cars. :rocker:

:awais: Maybe not the safest thing, but at least it helps keep me alert in general if somewhat distracted!

Definitely going to post some write ups for everyone.

Does anyone know how big of a TV I could fit in the rear hatch window? Ultimate Hater Vision right there. Add some speakers to the rear spoiler and you've got a movie theatre. :bigok:

wanna talk ultimate hater vision?
