Finally..just got my new '06 home

picked up my new V8 Ltd 2006 today...man am i pumped...i thought it was never gonna get off that damn freighter...adds new definition to the term "fresh off the boat" huh...
First impressions:
definately quieter, both wind and road noise
smoother and quieter suspension (could be the newness)
I like the navi system, although i need to do a lot of setup and my
first attempts at using the voice commands didn't work out, i'll keep ya posted
i think the '03 had more umph, but i'm in the baby it phase for a while...
I havent been able to find out from any dealers yet of the TRD exhaust is availbel for 2006 V8's with Xreas...

The Nautical Blue is saweeet, nice and dark with just the right amount of flake in it...

Driving a brand new car home usually makes me super careful and slow. The other time I drove like that was when I brought my newborn daughter home from the hospital.

Congrats on the new 4Runner, have fun breaking it in! :D

You're going to LOVE the Limited!

I found that the nav voice command function is sensitive to how fast you say the command. If you say the word slow and pronounced the system will not recognize the word or will think it is a different command. You need to say the command like you just talking to someone sitting next to you. Actually, say the word without raising your voice and say it almost quickly.

You may want to look at the MagnaFlow cat-back system, it sounds GREAT, it
 
you got it fellas, i'll snap some shots this weekend, by the time i get home from work its dark out during the week, how do you post pics here, do i need a place to host them?

I dont know what exhaust to get yet, i might wait to see what TRD comes out with for this year, not sure. i really like the look of the dual exits on both sides...

question for you on the SAT ready radio, i was ticked off that it wasn't sat enabled, i assumed it would be. the thing is i want sirius, not xm. if i get one of the portable units, can i plug it into the audio jack thats in the center console? i dont care about the text display being shown on the stereo, although it would be nice...i cant believe how far behind sirius is in the HW dept...xam has so much more to choose from

You could find a place to host them and past the address in the IMG box. You could also upload them directly from your computer using the upload button.

You could hook up satellite radio through the AUX jack in the center console. From what other members on the board said, Toyota should be releasing XM and Sirius kits in a few months. I am not sure of the exact timing.

yeah, i read that as well, but when i went to toyota's web site, i could only find references to XM. XM has some of their XM Direct kits available now, but sirius has nothing like it available, not even a mention of it. It seems like sirius has mostly portable devices, whereas XM covers the spectrum of poratable and car-specific hardware. One would have expected that with the influx of money and customers mr. stern brought to sirius, they would have relased some cutting edge hardware, but thats a big not...especially the S50, i know a bunch of peopel that were duped into buying it thinking it was like the XM roady...well, thanks for the advice, i'll keep y'all posted on the decision. If anyone knows more about what toyota is releaseing, please let me know!

Wooohooo! Looking great, congrats.

You'll love the truck. The voice command is pretty good, I find myself giving voice commands instead of just pressing a button when it could be much faster. :D
 
Looks similar to the "Stratosphere Mica" on the 2003-2005 models. I wonder if it is the same paint code, with just a more descriptive name.

I had no idea what color Stratosphere Mica was before I saw it at the dealership. The online color looked much different.
 
Congrats on the new 4Runner!

That is a beautiful color. I think it looks brighter than the Stratosphere. The 18's also make it stand out more. Very nice!

sharp4runr: The new color code is 8S6. Statosphere is 8Q0.
 
wow, i don't know how i missed that thread...thanks...The install is way beyond what i want to do myself, guess i need to go to a shop...

Congratulations! When did you order your truck, or was it already ordered by the dealership?

I've had a V8 Ltd. on order since Dec. 20th, and I'm sure getting anxious. Thanks for posting the photo, it's sharp looking and the 18" rims really do add to the looks. I hope to post photos of my new one soon!
 
hey, sorry, i havent been here much in the last week. I didn't exactly order it, once i decide on the color/trim combo the dealer ran a locate. the one they located that was closest to my area was already on the "boat" headed for newark, so they did a swap with smithtown toyota and re-routed it to Sunrise, it worked out great cause there was no transport between dealers, it was just delivered to sunrise. I signed the papers and made a deposit somewhere at the end of feb/beginning of march and had the truck about 2 weeks later give or take..there was about 15 BLue limited's with navi in the tri state area when they ran the locate...good luck with yours!

Hang in there Atomic 4Runner. I know it's a long and agonizing wait, but it'll be worth it. I ordered mine in early Nov. '05 and took delivery on Feb 19th. Hopefully, this will give you a time frame of how long it takes.

Assuming your "early Nov. '05" was Nov. 1st, I should have about 3 weeks left. If the dealership get an allocation notice about 3 wks. before the truck arrives, I should be hearing from my dealer this week. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I will be sure and let everyone know when it arrives. Maybe I can memorize the owners manual while I'm waiting?

Looking back at the calendar, it was Nov 10, 05 that my rep put in the changes for my configuration. Dec. 19, my rep finds out that my order got accepted. On Feb. 4, 06, it was on my dealer's allocation headed for port. My rep and I were on vacation Feb. 11-17, so I'm not sure exactly when it arrived at the dealer. The most difficult part is not knowing and being kept in the dark by Toyota; after the order is in, you don't know if and why they will accept it, then on which allocation, and when it'll actually arrive.

Depending on your region and distributor, my dealer got allocation updates every two weeks. My rep checks allocation every two weeks to see if my truck's there.

Your truck will be here before you know it. In the mean time, you can plan for mods and accessories. That's what I did. :)
