Finally lifted my 2001

Here's my 2001 4Runner I just bought on July 4th from the original owner. I got tired of my F-150 on a 6" lift & 35's !! I was getting 10 miles a gallon ! Iv'e been wanting a 4Runner forever, so I finally found this one on Craigslist it had 202,000 miles on it,very clean no tears on the seats never been in an accident, motor very well taken care of they used only Mobil1 oil/filter, all belts, timing & pulleys all done at 183,000 miles. New brake pads & rotors rear brake drums turned & new shoes & they just replaced the tires with Goodyear Wranglers 265/70r 16's, Picked it up for $5200.

After getting in touch with ChildrenOfBodom "James" he was way cool in helping me out with the lift questions Thanks !! So I called Toytech ordered the lift & had them put together the front springs & shocks for me to make install easier. I went with 883 front coils and 890's for the rear

The lift was easy due to the care that the original owners. the fronts went in no problem good thing I searched the board for tips like the bottle jack trick. The rear no problem had this done in 2 hours, then off to the alignment

Now I'm searching for tires but the Bfg's All-Terrains or the Pro Comp's are both load rated E's in 265/75r16's, Pro Comps weigh 47.4 lbs & the Bfg's are 54lbs. I read that "C" rated tires are better ?? But the tires on it now are only 2 months old, so I guess I have time to decide on what for tires. Next I want to do a E-locker, tint the front windows do a trans cooler & make it trail ready for Varmint season. Oh her she sits pretty nice ! Thanks all for this great board and members !!

i say pull the running boards off, and wait for a good deal on tires. i rode around for a few months on a 3" lift with 265's. wheeled just fine, except for the anchor that is the trailer hitch.

Ugghh… The only thing I miss about CA……… The desert!

Rig looks good. Now ditch the running boards and you'll have even more "lift".

BTW, I'm running 255/85 KM2's which are E's and I love them. They hook up like crazy.

Wow, you really notice the difference in the height in the later 3rd gens after a 3 inch lift. Looks great!!

Lift looks great! I really dig the color of your rig too. Rock the hell out of the 265's until they're near bald or replace them early. Whatever your preference, its your rig, and either way it looks clean. Great start!

run those tires till they are bald then buy new ones, if you wanna wheel the first thing i would buy is skids and sliders

Thanks everyone. Once again this is a Great board lots of Info ! And alot of great look'n Runners. I was thinking about as far as tires, to go with either Bfg all terrains or Pro Comp's or Firestones Destination A/T in 265/75R 16's ? I want to remove the running boards, but I have a 5 & 10 yr old that need them just to get in for now, Its funny how my 5 yr old has a hard time getting into the back seat even with them on. But next I'm goona do the Trans cooler then the E-locker due to being only 2 wheel drive. 4x4's were starting at aroung $6,500 here in Southern California. I think I did good on this vehicle. I've been wanting a 4Runner forever, finally got rid of the gas killer & stepped up ! Glad I did it.

look in to general grabber at2 they are almost the same pattern as BFG but way cheaper they are quiet and sticky as hell offroad, also look into adding a handle somewhere for the young one to grab on to like a strap or something i remember somebody on here did that and it help his kids a lot
