Finally mounted my Hella Lights....not sure if I like 'em or not...

I finally got everything worked out on the bolt issue and got the brackets made for the lights. I haven't wired them up because I am still not sure I like 'em mounted like this. I almost wish the bracket could drop down a little after they come out in front of the bumper. Anyway, let me know what you guys think, and be honest. Everything is a work in progress.

I think they look nice. they're high enough that they'll provide good light, but low enough that they're cool lookin'. I'd say I like 'em out farther as it'll give you a more even light in a wider arc prolly.

my only concern would be that there's nothing to protect them from the other stupid people in parking lots/etc...I'd almost say it'd be worth it to put some sort of bar so that if someone were to bump into you they'll hit the bar and not the lights...

Thanks. The good thing is that I work out of my house, so there is hardly any time I am parked in a parking lot. When I have meetings or go out to run errands I am very selective in my parking, so I am not too concerned with that happening.

i like the way they look. but if i had them i wouldnt give them more then a month before someone crushed them. I am very very selective of where i park but the idiots still seem to find me. Chris

I shot ya an email...check it. Personally I think they fit the style and setup of your runner perfectly. A bar would help to protect them, but may not be the cleanest route...I included in the email another way to protect them. Cant wait to touch base with you one of these days...peace.

Hmmm, I don't like 'em. They look out of place being the only round things on the front end. I guess it's just not my style.

All it takes is one careless moron backing into you (or you accidentally edging up too close to something in the front (or sliding into it in the winter) and kiss the lights goodbye. I'd prefer to mount them in a bull bar to protect the lights (and the front bumper) from damage...

IMO, they are in the wrong place.
They are vulnerable to the smallest bump from parking Helen Keller-style,

that area is the most high-pressure area on the entire vehicle so rock

and debris damage is going to be the worst,

they don't look right (looks better with the covers off but still wrong to me).

I like the spot RLemke has on TOP of the bumper. It seems like the right spot for the lights and looks good while still out of the way of parking damage.

If you want lights down low, maybe inside the grill area (where the Hellas are currently) with rectangular shaped lights to match the OEM fogs and bumper shapes

I was looking at your new avitar and noticed your new rooftop box.

Question: what type is it and where did you get it?

We will be departing the Upstate NY AO shortly, and have not been able to find a rooftop box that will conform with Toyota's limitations for the max weight capacity of the support beams.

Leave the covers off and put some clear covers on there as the black and white Hella covers inhale profusely IMO.

As far as protecting them, just get a bull bar out front and mount them on that.
