what did you have done exactly? and how much did it run you? oh...and your in MD...where did you get it done?

I'm sorry to report that I also had the sulphur fis done at the dealer. No problem with the dealer and now no smell.

They replaced both front cats and pipes all the way to the muffler.

The crossover pipe does hang down lower than the crossmember though.

I have not had the chance to look under neath but all I care about is that the smell is gone. Total in parts for the dealer were $1600 for the new cats. No cost to me...Just alot of my time..

Oh I called them and told them I herd that there is a bulitn out there addressing the sulfer smeal. I had to give him my vin and he called me back a few hours later to let me know that my vin matched some of the bad cats and they had to order the parts. I had to call back 2 weeks later to ask if they came in which the were so I scheduled it right then and there. I went to the Carmax in Laurel where i bought it...There service sucks!

Thanks for the info. Do you know whay month you 4Runner was built? I'll have to call. I bought from Carmax. Maybe I'll try Darcars Toyota.

No I do not have a idea of when it was built...I think they are mostly looking for your VIN to match..

I am not sure... You can find out more info about the TSB Bullitins on this site or just do a google search for Toyota TSB Bullitins and that should also get you more info...

The month/year is in the driver's door sill on a sticker. I bought mine 1/2/2005. It was built November 04. The smell leads me to believe my VIN will match. :D

Does anyone have a link to the FULL TSB sheet (all the pages with the instructions and what not) for the 2005 v8 sulfur fix? I swear it was posted on here before --- but I have been searching for the last 10 minutes and can't find it. I only found the one that has 2 pages and doesn't include all the instructions for the dealer. I want to be able to hand my dealer the whole thing so I make sure it gets done right the first time.

Thanks in advance to whoever finds it ...

Well it looks like it is not totally gone but is much better then it was. I have very light smell but will do till I put a whole new exhaust system on..

I had the TSB done to my '05 V8 several months ago and it's much much better but I still get the stink every once in a while.
So don't think it's a 100% cure-all because it's not.
Dealer told me if I was paying out of pocket it would've cost $2200.

I have to make an appointment to do this soon as well.....

However, my concern that even with the fix...it is obvious that the exhaust flow likes to come through the cabin with the rear window open. Is anyone concerned about too much exposure to CO sulfer smell or not?

If it's warm enough to have the rear window open or partially open, then it's warm enough to have the cabin windows open or partially open so it's a non-issue.

Question about the TSB.... it says "Applicable Vehicles 2006 model year 4Runner vehicles equipped with the 1GR-FE engine." What engine is that? Is that a part number?

best to just call the dealer and tell them that you know of a bullitin that fixes the sulfer smell and you want to know what you have to do to get yours fixed. This way they know that you about them addressing the issue. If you can you even give them the bullitin #....That way they cannot deniy it...

That is what I am going to do, I printed off the TSB to take with me, but what is that engine they are talking about?
