I have both. 2014 TE (for me) and a 2015 GX Premium (for my wife). The GX is a lot more comfortable and handles much better than my TE for daily driving.

But there is something about my TE that makes me actually prefer driving it daily even though it is less comfortable, rides rough (mainly thanks to my E KO2's), and doesn't have nearly the bells and whistles...

I'm thinking I can trade in my 2015 4R for a 2014 GX next year and come out pretty good. I like the front end of the 2014 and 2015 GX better than the older ones.

They're basically the exact same thing with the exception of interiors. The 200 will be a very good platform to build an offroader. And prices are now getting down to be competitive with other options. There's no question that it is better than a 4runner in every way as an offroad base vehicle to build. I has a lot more suspension travel. Bigger stronger axles. Bigger brakes. Stronger frame. Larger engine. A much better rear gate system. Stronger roof structure. Bigger wheel bearings. You name it. The only real downside is the cost.

There are tons of heavily built 100's. There will be tons of built 200's in a few years.

I wonder if there will be offroad bumpers that will fit, now that Lexus has put on that spindle grill. I would love to get one, put on an offroad bumper and a Prado grill. But I bet that would cost stupid money.

I wanted a GX460, but looking at the after-market stuff.... there are really MUCH LESS for GX.... just cuz, most people who buy a GX is like the richer highlander crowd, soccer moms, the mercedes/bmw crowd rather than the offroaders..... hence, the market for products is much smaller to warrant the product development effort....

About the same as why there are almost NO after-market stuff for highlanders.... no roof racks, no bumpers, no slider etc...

I don't know if there is a slider that can mount on a GX....

It's $ but you can swap the gx rockers for Prado 150. Really anything you want, but you might have to ship it.

Some of those cruiser pictures were from 200s sold here in the US. The cruiser sold here is plenty capable offroad.

Go over to ih8mud.com and tell those guys their trucks are only good as a mall cruiser.

finally did it

went in yesterday and completed the deal for the GX 460 premium after trading in my X6-50.

Will take some getting used to the size difference, but so far I really like it.

Will post pics on the GX forum.

Those seats are moronic. You'd think after a couple of generations Lexus would have engineered something that didn't consume cargo space. A bit like that silly old barn door that only just changed. Stubborn mules.
