FIPG for front axle tube at differential?

I'm certain that I'm overthinking this, but here we go. I'm doing a manual hub swap and ADD delete. I have a non-ADD axle tube that I'm going to install, but there is a little confusion on the correct FIPG that I am supposed to use. My FSM says part "08826-00090, Threebond 1281 or equivalent" and usually that would be the end of it. The problem is that this part 08826-00090 corresponds to FIPG (orange) for the transmission and there is another part number FIPG (black) which is for oil. Since this is for my front differential, than wouldn't I need the black FIPG? Also to add to the confusion there is a Threebond 1281 (gear oil) and 1281B (ATF). So can anyone give me some clarification on the correct FIPG?

I would use permatex 81182. It’s FIPG meant for gear oil, and what I’ve always used for gear oil applications. I’m interested to see what Toyota/three bond people recommend for gear oil applications.

I believe three bond 1281 is reddish brown. Description: [Silicone FIPG, Gear oil resistant, heat resistant]

It's also the same color as 1281B [Used in Silicone FIPG, AT fluid resistant ]

I would use 1281 for the gear oil sealing and 1281B for the Transmission pans etc.
This is just my thoughts on it.

I just found it interesting as its the same color as the factory FIPG.

I used Permatex Black RTV on my actuator, and it seems to be holding almost a year and a half dozen wheeling trips later.

I am sure it will. As it's probably an equivalent. Lots of things should work well for many different mfgs.

I don’t know the part number but the orange/red Toyota FIPG is a great product. Expensive but it’s the right stuff for gear oils from what I understand. Rule of thumb: black FIPG on engine oil/coolant. Red/orange FIPG on transmissions and diffs.

That has never steered me wrong.

The Red/Orange is the right stuff for transmissions and differentials.
