I currently have my extinguisher in the little storage space on the right side. When I have my camping gear packed, it's buried and would be hard to grab in an emergency. I looked into mounting it under the passenger seat, but it seems that every mount for that spot will limit the ability to slide the seat forward. I see a lot of people using a molle panel on the rear side window to store the extinguisher. Looks like a great spot, but is there a way to do this that will be safe in an accident? I don't want that thing hitting me or my kids in the head. I see a lot of panels and mounts out there, but are they strong enough to be safe?

This how i have mine mounted. I feel like the 3 points that secure the molle panel and the fact that my shelf now ties the panel to the opposing panel should provide a very stout mounting in the event of an accident or rollover.

I have mine mounted to my molle panel, it's been there for at least 3 years and I've had no issues. I have it in reach of the rear of the vehicle so it's easily accessible incase of an emergency, the last thing I wanted was for it to not be reachable when needed

What is “safe” is subjective. However I considered the placement as best I could for access and just if a crash occurred… where it might fly. Ended up mounting it driver’s side as low as possible, low enough the first point of contact is the back of the passenger seat…
And ya I know passenger side would probably be better as I’m solo most days.

Perhaps mounting it vertically and using two mounts to hold it in place? The horizontal mount looks like it's armed to fly.

Seems like the shovel would be just as dangerous if not more so than the fire extinguisher let alone the hatchet

I’m not the OP… everything you see is secured and clamped with rivnuts and 5/16 bolts The fire extinguisher is in a metal mount with rivnuts/bolts too.

While not a subject matter expert, I took linear momentum into consideration… shovel/axe secured with quick-fist clamps, rivnuts and 5/16 bolts. Note the axe is upside down… mass is lowered. Good enough for me.

Ok, so these look pretty legit. I love that they have a long burn/output time.
I've certainly seen enough independent video's for me to think they're reliable.
Pricing seems a bit steep for something you might never use, but then again, I have a CRAP-tonne of money into this 4runner at this point, so what's another $80.00 right? :usa2:

I have one in every vehicle. They do not work well in high wind. They are significantly lighter and smaller than traditional ABC extinguishers. They do not expire like traditional units. Could easily fit on a seat riser too.

Guess it depends on your Molle panel. I have the FinnFab style with the rivnut holes… So I used the quick release metal mount that came with the fire extinguisher and secured the mount to the Molle panels via 5/16 bolts

I don't have one yet. Still looking into it, but the Rago looks good to me.
