Fire Extinguisher...

I got bored today, and since a Fire Extinguisher (even small) is nice to have (even necessary), thought I would put one in.

I first went with the removable panel that covers the jack and tools, like everyone else. But on first drive, stepped on the brakes and the panel came off. No bueno.

So I thought why not put it in a more supported/permanent spot. Hence what you see below. Same procedure as with the panel, just took a little more time.

I feel this spot is better since when I go to remove the extinguisher the panel wont come with it.

Sorry for the crappy cell picture.

That is right where I plan on putting a larger storage box that fits right into the existing tray over the wheel well...but need to figure out how to fabricate that first. Once I do, then I will just put mine inside. Has anybody fabbed a box for this area yet???

It's next on my to-do list.

Not a 5G but you can see my storage box build by clicking the pic...
Also, to keep on topic, a fire extinguisher is great to have on board. I have a page on that at my site too.

My plan is to get a two drawer system in the back for recovery gear, tools, yada yada yada, hence the placement. It could change once the drawers are put in but that won't be for a while. First is the suspension and tire/wheel combo.

You picked a good spot. Mine sits on the floor behind the passenger seat for now.

Me too!

Had that conversation with myself last week while working on the airbags..
I'm going to try and keep the tray, incorporate a kitchen AND room for a Labrador. I talk to myself about it, too. Mostly just mumbles about what an idiot I am for wanting it at all.

Wow, this would actually be a good idea. Currently I keep my supplies between the back seats and the slide out tray flip up panel. Those about to attempt this, definitely post some pics of the process.

One could even make two boxes, one for each side, and add a sub and amp. :thumb3:

Then put a couple notches in the top panel or something and one could add a temporary deck with tie downs for those times you need to carry extra things and don't want it all stacked on top of each other.
