So I thought I would go ahead and start up a build thread for the new ride even though there isn't much progress just yet. I figure this will help motivate me to keep track of everything I do from the get go.
A quick shot of the most recent ride I just got rid of.....
It's an 07 Tacoma that had more mods than I care to try and list at the moment but pretty much everything short of a SAS. It was a great truck and very capable but I needed to free up some financials so it had to go.
And the replacement brings me here.....
2000 SR5 Sport with the 3.4l and 5 speed manual trans. It was a 1 owner and has been taken pretty good care of short of a few dings in the body and a messed up front bumper cover despite the fact that she's just a tick over 216k.
Driving it home I noted a few things, first off it runs as smooth as the day it was new, good power, however I could tell the front brake rotors were warped. The pads were in alright shape but instead of just turning the rotors I went ahead and did the 231mm brake upgrade since not only will I eventually be running larger tires but we also have a large pop up camper that it will frequently tow as well. Also on the list was to replace the lower ball joints since the previous owner said they had never been done. I checked them and they seemed alright but with that mileage I figured it was good insurance.
Here's a quick shot of last weekends family activities. The runner did awesome towing the camper, a bit slower than the Tacoma but overall it handled it really well, better than I had expected.
I've already managed to acquire a few misc parts for future upgrades which include Tundra front coils, FJ rear coils for the rear, and a complete e-locker 3rd with all the wiring.
