Firestone Destination A/T vs Goodyear Fortera Tripletred

If you leave in a place where you get a lot from all 4 seasons (no offroading) and you have the choice of a 4-set of one of these 2.... Which one would u pick?

Tough call... Both are well liked. For no off-roading the GY might be a better choice.

What's a big minus to me on the GY's is that they are directional. That gives you less options for rotating. The big plus on the GY's is that if you live in an area with chain inspection stations for the snow the GY's have the snowflake.

The GY's have more of a cool on-road look and the Firestone's have a tougher A/T look. Another thought is many local places are "giving away" generation 1 Revo's which look tough and work very well on-road (and for light off-roading).


IIRC you have a 2wd, on-road setup which make the GY very tempting. Not being able to rotate right to left isn't the end of the world it's just something to think about.

What's a big minus to me on the GY's is that they are directional. That gives you less options for rotating. The big plus on the GY's is that if you live in an area with chain inspection stations for the snow the GY's have the snowflake.

I was doing a search here for the Destination but didn't find much ...just a few links for other websites and one or two words from a member...but not reviews from active members of this forum. I found one very helpfull with pics from a member about the Forteras tho' very positive the only con was about the rotation like CJ said.

Running Destination A/T's I personally like them. A/Ts are "street tread" enough for me though. I am just a little bias against directional tires though, and don't generally see Goodyears get good mileage.

For the Destinations, as mentioned above, I too like them alot.
In comparison to the stock Bridgestone, the tread pattern looks more aggressive, good enough for me. They're smooth and quiet.
At 37 psi, they seem to ride best for my liking.
At 13,000+ miles, mostly highway, they still look fairly new and haven't been rotated.

I don't have any close up pictures of the tires but hope it's good enough to give you ideas.

a few years back i installed yoko at's and loved them, im going on 60k on them and still tread life. i'm thinking of getting new tires cause its time and my four choices are goodyear silent armor, pirelli's scorp atr, firestone dest. at and yoko geo at-s.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I put the tires on at ~500 miles after the vehicle purchased.
I don't have pictures of them new but those above were taken about a couple of months back at this mileage:

Never really focused on taking pictures of the tires but

31's, haven't rotated yet, do have a slight feather to the fronts since the front end is a little out of wack but still don't give any road noise that I notice/care about.

While helping a friend select new meat, I too was concerned about the directional tread, when it comes to rotation and longevity. Goodyear puts a nice treadlife warranty on the tire as well. 60k I believe.

Thr directional tread wll be a benefit in inclement weather.
