I recently purchased an '02 SR5, SE and it came with Bridgestone Dueler H/T D689's (shudder). I had planned on putting GY Wrangler SilentArmors on until last night when I went onto TireRack and found Firestones' Destination A/Ts. I was very surprised at what an impressive tire they appear to be as I've never heard of them. (I actually work for a major tire retailer but we don't stock Firestone. Shame on me for not being up on my competition...:headslap: ) Except for slightly lower numbers (and I do mean slightly) in snow traction - they seem to be an all around better tire, less expensive and 5lbs lighter to boot. Anybody had/have these?

Looking at P rated or LT rated ?
I should check into them too , since my lease is up in feb.09 and I plan on buying it out , but if i dont it would be nice to trade it in with a cheaper tire than some GY SA's or BFG's or Revos that cost close to $200 a pc.

I may go check them out this week if I have a chance or drive by a Firestone store and make a quick stop.
Agreed on the P that is what I'm going to get , I know the LT's are tougher ect..... , but off road the heck out of my P rated Revos and with smart driving they held up fine.

Stopped at Firestone for prices , for anyone who wants the info for comparison . Sorry I dont know the max. PSI on each.

I have about 12,000 miles on my AT's so far and I am very pleased. Wet traction is good and they are extremely quiet IMO. I have done some offroading with no problems at all. It was between these and the revos, but i didnt want to spend the extra money. I think I paid 720.00 for 4 with everything last march.

I've looked at P-rated tires over the years and have always been disappointed with how shallow their tread depth is compared to LT's in the same size. Probably means very little in the long run but as anal as I am about such things I picked right up on it. Can't help thinking how another 1/8 to 3/16th of tread depth would wear longer, but they cost more too.
Probably won't be getting anything new (tirewise) til Nov. but this has helped me quite a bit in my decision...

Thats a good starting point , but one of the things people don't look at are miles logged , units sold which has a factor on the rating %. So you have to look at all factors. I did this to , then I decided to try some other research buy just reading road test 4x4 reviews by doing a gooogle search for things like "brandxxxx AT tire reviews" and gives better info.
