Hi All,

Well, I've been lurking aroud the site for a few months, and I joined up a short time ago. I'm really impressed with the info on here and the people are awesome! I've learned a ton. So much so that I'm thinking about picking up multiple 3rd gens.

Anyway, in late March, we purchased our first ever 4Runner, a 2002 SR5 4WD, Imperial Jade Mica, with the dual tone running boards and wheel well cladding, leather interior, etc.

I wasn't thrilled with the two-tone. But it's very clean, with only 89k when we bought it. And it's been very well cared for.

It's going to be the shared DD for my kids to get to and from school, so I'm not sure what mods we're gonna do. It's stock now. Probably preventive ones first, like transmission cooler to avoid pink milkshake, etc.

I've been lurking around long enough to know that posts are considered worthless without pics :happy::happy:, so here we go:

Welcome aboard!

Did you get that puppy locally? My friend, who lives near S. Mountain, was looking at an Imperial Jade Mica. Come to think of it, I believe it was a 2000.

Kinda locally. Husband and wife live here. But husband works in Boston. So the Runner was originally purchased in Virginia in 2002, has been in ATL, but was 'living' in Boston, and was shipped back here for sale. (And yes, it has some rust issues.)

It never hit Craig's List, etc. We heard about it from a mutual friend and were able to by it before it even went public.

Welcome, and nice looking rig. I feel the same way about multiple 3rd gens. I bought my 4 cylinder 2wd with the idea one day I'd make it a SAS rock crawler. But since that will most likely be a few years down the road, I'd consider a 2nd 3rd gen with more luxury as my DD and then get started on this one as an ongoing project.

Interesting thought about one rock crawler and one DD. For us, we need 3 DD cars in the family, so I'm considering my options...
