First car - 3rd gen t4r

I received a 4runner for my first car a couple months ago and was very excited. My father and I searched for a while and I could not be happier with what we found, a 2000 SR5 4WD with 172k miles. It already had the bull bar on it and the wheels, other than that ive done a few modifications such as running board removal, cb and pa system with 4' firestik, and isr mod. The front brakes have been replaced as well as a new starter since I got it and the left rear axle seal needs to be replaced as well as the 265/75r16 beg all-terrains are pretty bare. Other than that what do you guys think I should do to improve offroadability as well as regular maintenance? I look forward to joining the community!

I assume you have a locker because of the sticker. So you are set there. Possible add on depending on what you use it for: lift; sliders; better skid plates; remove bull bar
Maintenance: check ball joints and tie rods; fix rear axle seal; check transmission for "milkshake"

Im sorry, but by what sticker? If your talking about the TRD decal those are aftermarket.

:welcome: The truck looks great! You can save alot of money by doing the rear axle seal yourself and save some money. Other than that i would just read the stickies and make sure that you have covered everything head to toe. Then all thats left is a good detail job. A 4runner is a great first car! Happy modding!

Put some better looking wheels on IMO. I don't like those. I got a 98 4R from NY mom when I was 16. Surprised tthe heck out of me. She came home in a Camry and told me she traded in the 4R. Waljed outside about a hour later and it was sitting in the front yard with dealer stickers (the kind they have to price when they are on the front lot) but tthey were custom made. Love 4R's since then. Totaled mothers day 2010, some dude in a Honda accord pulled out in front of me at 65 MPH. Miss her. Had a 03 Highlander then traded that in oN a 03 SR5 V8 in Natural white with cladding. Love the ttruck to death.

Ok. So that means he definitely doesn't have an elocker? I know some years came with that option, as far as I know.
 
No locker unfortunately, or not that I know of it doesnt have the button. I am fine with the wheels considering if I bought it with stock ones I probably wouldn't even change them. When I get new tires of the same size soon i'm looking into a 1.5 or 2in lift to mainly just make it sit a little better and not scrape at all since I do coming in and out of my driveway, probably just spacers or if I want to spend a little more get rear coils and front spacers.

Great looking ride and welcome! I'd say if you plan on using it off-pavements at all, save up and do it right. There are a few options that aren't that expensive and will yield great results.
 
I had a Ford Bronco II for a first car. I would have loved to have had a 4runner.

I actually like the wheels. It looks good. Enjoy it.

When you are ready for a V8 conversion, just let Singtoe know.

By the way, the front metal bar is NOT a bull bar. Bull bars are solid and mostly support an impact with a bull/deer. What you have is a simple metal pipe bended and Cr plated.
If you even hit a small animal, it will bent.

You can fix 7 - 8 inch Yellow lamps to it. it will look better.
