First major service on 06 v6

Hey all,

I purchased my 06 v6 SR5 back in March of 2010. At the time, it had 46k miles. It now has just over 64k miles, and I'm thinking it probably needs a general tune-up.

I'm wondering how much needs to be done, and if I should just take it in for a stealership service "package".

While I've had it, I've done the oil changes and the tire rotations on my own. I haven't done any towing, just a little bit of off-roading, and obviously 4wd use in the snow.

I'm getting ready to do another oil change, and I was probably going to pick up a grease gun to do the axels and u-joints.

That said, is there anything else I definitely need to do?

Spark plugs & wires
Distributor cap & rotor
fuel filter
air filter
PCV valve

100 miles before next oil change, run Sea Foam through it:

add 1/3 can to gas tank
add 1/3 can to oil (crankcase)
add 1/3 can to main vacuum line while rpm's are kept at 1500.

(the main vacuum line disconnects from the brake booster)

Shut off engine and wait 10 minutes or up to an hour (hot soak)
Drive until smoke stops pouring out of tailpipe.

If it's been more than 30,000 miles since all the gear oils were changed, have them changed too (transmission, transfer case, and both differentials)

Spray some throttle body cleaner in the throttle body.

Check the cleanliness of the Mass Air Flow sensor. If it's dirty, spray it down with Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner.

NEVER TOUCH THE SENSOR WIRES!

Drain (and flush if you want to) the cooling system, then re-fill with fresh 50/50 coolant.

Make sure all fluids are topped off and lube the chassis.

I wouldn't seafoam an 06.

This list seems a little more within my own capabilities. Although I probably will still call around to see if a shop will cut me a deal on doing all of it.

By fluids, are you still including the gear oil? I unfortunately do not know when or if those were changed prior to me purchasing the runner. Changing the fluids in the differentials and transfer case doesn't look too bad. Although doing the transmission looks like a bit of a pain.

If its ws fluid, with no dipstick, I'd recommend not trying it on your own.
Diff fluids are cake. Super easy.

It costs between $7 to $9 ... and everyone should do it once a year if the vehicle is at least five years old.

If I decide to do this as well, should I do it before or after I change my oil? (Which I currently plan to do tomorrow.)

Yeah, it's a little late now. I need an oil change, asap, and with how little I drive, I can't wait 100 miles following the sea foam treatment.

I'll probably do it before my next oil change, and I can research it further in the meantime.

Still appreciate both opinions though!
