I just changed did my first oil change myself at 1233 miles and put in approx. 5.5 quarts of 10w-30 motor oil with a new Toyota oil filter.
I know the Toyota User Manual recommends using 5w-30. I have read a lot of postings in this forum regarding Synthetic vs. petroleum based oils.
I have previously always used Mobil 1 10w-30 Synthetic motor oil on my Nissan Maxima (drove it almosto to 190,000 miles until it was totalled in a crash :-(
So I am a believer in using Synthetic oils and will switch at about 4000 miles.
My question is, because I inadvertently poured in 10w-30 instead of 5w-30, will it be OK to keep it for the next 3k miles when I switch to Synthetic? I live in Southern California and our mild winter is gone. It's spring and temps. are around 60-80 degrees Farenheit.
Thanks...
