First Oil Change

I done first oil change on my 2004 Sports Edition V-6 today. I was puzled when I removed oil drain plug. It didn't have any gasket on it. Of course I put little fiber gasket that comes with Toyota filter and torqued it to29 ft/lb. But WTH, why don't they put one on from assembly line? It is compresable material that seals pan plug... Does any one else had one missing or it's just mine?

Did the first OC this past weekend on my 04 V6 also. The gasket from the drain plug stuck to the oil pan on mine. Just left it there, wiped it off after the oil drained and reinstalled drain plug.

Yes, they stick to the pan you have to gently pry the old one off.

Happens all the time on mine.

I called Toyota. They said that new 4-runners do not have drain plug gaskett, just little silicone layer. Fiber gaskett is instaled at the first oil change.

My truck had the gasket stuck on the oil pan. I pryed off before putting new one on.
