first or second notch on tundra 5100s

so i just got my new struts in the mail today, and am gonna put these together tomorrow at work, my question is; i have brand new TRD tundra coils(yy-yb) that im going to use with these, and possibly a 3/8" top plate(if needed), but what setting/perch should i set the springs on?

i know these coils should net about 2.5" of lift, but that is with older used stuff and i know a few guys are running their TRD coils on the second perch, but they also have old used coils that have settled and or been broken in, mine are brand new never installed, so they will be stiff at first and not settled can i get away with the second notch,(and the top plate) or do i need to just leave it on the first notch and wait till the settle then move them up?

I have TRD tundra coils and my bilsteins on the 2nd notch. My coils are pretty damn close to brand new. The guy said he only had them on for about 3k miles.
Here are my measurements from hub to fender:

front driver- 22.875 in
front passenger- 22.75 in

I personally am going with the 2nd notch. I have the same setup as you and I'm running 8 wraps on the rear, so I know the rear is going to sit up a bit...Im putting my stuff on next week. If yours isnt on by then I'll let you know

I'm posting this here as well as the kid. It may help other people out.

I have mine set at the 2nd setting right now. I wouldn't go higher myself since my CV's are at a healthy angle without a diff drop. I haven't had a diff drop for the 10 months I've had the lift on and not one problem.

If I was you I would go with the 2nd setting and the top plates if you are trying to be somewhat even with the rear. The 2nd setting results in about 2.5-2.6" of lift. With the spacers you will be ~3". Definitely put the extended studs in even if you don't use the spacers this time. It will save you from reassembling the struts later on.

Now there are a couple of problems with using the spacers for the 3" and using the 3 setting for the 3". The spacers will increase your droop and may cause the spindle to hit the coils. This is common with the TRD's and I've heard placing the end of the coil on the bottom out towards the tire helps reduce this contact. That is how my shocks/coils are set up and I have no issues with contact. Other than that the spacer will not reduce the ride quality like bumping up to the 3rd notch will. That is the advantage of the spacer over the 3rd notch.

I wouldn't go for the 1st setting as people with the SS 1.2 lift have new coils as well, but net 2.5-2.6" on the second setting. The coils may not sag as much as used, but it's not enough keep them on the first setting.

These are my observations and first hand experience. BigFish had the same set up as you and only went up the 3rd setting once he got his winch . Although you do have your brush guard and have talked about getting a bumper so maybe the 3rd notch will be right for you.

2nd notch, no spacer. I had a good amount of lift, I believe 2 3/8 and I have an ARB. My coils were new just like any Sonoran kit will be.

I'm running on the 3rd notch with used springs. They had 60k on them when I got them. 2nd notch was too low for my taste, at the 3rd notch the stance is perfect!! Rides a tiny bit stiffer, but still much better than stock. I'm sitting with 1 inch of rear rake, looks perfect for me. I have 8 wraps in the rear too.
