First post and I got some questions

Been doing a lot of searching and I gotta say, this appears to be the "better" 4runner forum. Cant wait to dive in further and poke around.
Last week I sold our 99 XJ Cherokee and immediately started the hunt for a runner. Found a beautiful 97 (SR5 2wd v6) and have begun transforming it into the ideal family camping vehicle (something to pull our little pop-up camper). Cant even come close to comparing the old XJ and our new runner. Talk about apples and oranges.
So far things with the runner have been great. Thought it had a fuel line leak somewhere but after 2 hours of searching I found the overwhelming smell to be coming from a couple gas cans I have in the garage that were not burped properly. I had no dash lights and thought it could be the aftermarket stereo not grounded properly. Turns out the dimmer switch had become unplugged.

Tomorrow I plan on replacing the rear coils with 2in OME's and putting a new gasket on the rear diff. Any tips would be welcomed!!!
The main question I have is in regards to the gear selector. The little "P, R, N, D, 3, 2" dont line up with the selected gear. For example when engaged in drive the selector shows "N". Anyone know how to adjust the window so that everything lines up? I did a search but couldn't find anything.

All the best to all of you. Looking forward to meeting some of you Arizona guys someday.

Welcome.

If you use the search engine for OME 906, there are plenty of threads that address DIY installation. It is not hard, is good to have an extra pair of hands, and two jacks. Just be weary of the rear brake line stretching too much.

For the gear selector, take the center console out, then pull the shifter cover up and that should give you plenty of access to fix it.
