Hey everybody, first of all I want to thank all of you who post much useful and helpful information. I've spent many hours on here reading and getting informed.
Posting was disabled when I first made this account but now it's fixed. I bought my first 4runner this year, '98 ltd 4x4 AT. So far so good, pretty much only minor repairs so far. About 200 miles in the PCV valve started spraying oil and caused blow by so replaced the the valve and cleaned throttle body, no more blow by. New battery and front end issues fixed. New tires. Basic stuff..

Off road worthy but probably won't take it out for tough romping and muddn just for fun since it is my only vehicle and source of transportation. I travel and camp a lot so I got it for the reliability and access to off road sites. Who knows though it may evolve into something different one day. for now tho, it's a Road Warrior/light off road

it's nice to have a vehicle you can take somewhere remote and rough, and then drive it to work next day and haul the family around. Congratulations on the 98' and hope it treats you well as we all know it will.

Totally get that! Same here for me, I drive it on-road way too much to warrant any sort of expensive off-roading equipment or parts.

For those of us who spend most of our time on the road, superchargers are reeeeally fun Don't know what your budget is though.

One lesson I learned with my first 3rd gen; get a commuter daily driver. You'll enjoy the 4runner a LOT more when you can put it away muddy, do whatever mods you'd like, and not sweat small scrapes.

I have an 86 pickup that I daily... I fill it up once a month for $33. No power steering, so it's like driving a go-kart. It has a bit of pep with the ol' 22R... Cruises 70, and gets there in an acceptable time.

Of course I had to add some creature comforts in the form of a wal-mart CD Player w/ Aux and some E30 BMW seats. I love my little pickup, ugly as it may be.

When I daily drove the 4Runner I was at the gas station every 10 days or so for $60, sometimes more. ALMOST made it not fun to drive. Almost.

Now I look forward to firing it up on Saturday morning to go wherever the weekend may take us.
