Hey all, first of all, My name is Max and I'm new to the forum. I am on the boards to explore and also to help my buddy rebuild his 1994 4Runner. its a V6 4WD. I have been reading about the transmission problems and the fixes for the symptoms he's having seem to point to Solenoid replacement or Speed Sensor replacement. We are going the Solenoid route first.

Here is my trouble: Yesterday, laying on my back on the floor of a parking garage (outdoor too) in Milwaukee, I proceeded to remove every bolt out of the trans pan except one, which is located right above the front driveshaft. I know this is a FNG question, but how did anyone get this bolt out? We have tried with multiple sockets and u-joints and simply cant get a grip on it. I have pictures from my phone that I will upload when I can, but all the threads that I have read say its simple. I seem to simply be struggling! :redbrick:

Thanks for any direction, I have got to say, being a Chevy guy (flamesuit on) I am more than impressed with how these trucks hold up. He has 208,000 miles and its still moving strong! Pretty impressive stuff!

Sorry for being long-winded, but any help would be appreciated!

Hate to say the obvious, but if the drive shaft is in the way, drop it and you should be good. Oh crap. In a parking lot.... well, I've been there too. I did a clutch in an apartment parking lot once, the whole time waiting to get busted by management.
