First thread with a couple Q's
Hey Y'all! First off I want to say thanks for everyone who contributes to this forum. It has been a wealth of knowledge that I have been learning from for the past couple of months.
I recently took delivery of my '06 Sport 4x4 in Galactic Grey, which I actually bought from another member (ECP4runner). It has replaced my 1990 4runner which I had been driving for the past decade. My new 4runner is exactly what I was looking for and I LOVE it!
Now my question: I have the 3" Toytec Ultimate lift with stock sized Revos. I am looking at trying run 255/80/17 KM2s. The problem is that I have read mixed results with this tire and how much lift is needed. The lift sticky says minor trimming with 3/2 lift (which is fine with me), but in BlairB's thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/61473-bfg-255-80-17-mt-km2s-lots-pics.html, it says that one will need much more than 3" of lift. I also sent a PM to another member who ran these tires with a 3" lift and they said that there was only minor rubbing, but they never went offroad. Can anyone clarify? Also would there be any concern about stress to my stock drivetrain with such a tall tire?
Another question is that I see a LOT of people run spidertrax spacers, and from what I understand they seem to cause more rubbing issues. So does everyone just run them for the improved "stance," or am I missing something?
Long winded I know, but I have am in research overload. Thanks for any help.
