First Run With my new 2004runner

I took my baby out for a little test run. Stock I was very impressed! I now know i won't need much to set it up to do what I want to do!
I went to Deer Valley in the Sierras. One of my favorite spot's. Not a scratch or dent.

The big $ jeep's had a puzzled look on there face when they saw me out there with the shiney 4Runner.

Nice pics! I've been in some rough stuff with my stock truck but nothing like your last couple pictures :awais:! Looking at that before seeing your truck actually crawling over all the rocks I was thinking there is no way you could make it over with no damage. Nice driving!

Did you bottom out at all? In some of those spots it looked like at least the running boards had to scrape.

Ya, here and there they would just touch a rock so I would back up re-evaluate the approach and use a better route. Some times there was no better route. They just got a bit rubbed on. Nothing serious. When I said "no scratches or dent's". I was refering to the body mostly. I have a feeling those running boards are going to run right off there. I don't like them too much. I'm not so old I need them yet.

My daughter came to visit me the following weekend, saw the photos and asked me to take her up there. So... I did it again. Same out come. Great trail.

I used to run it all the time back when I had my Samuri. It of course was not stock by a long shot. I will post some pics of it when I find them, for referance.

If your in Califorina... The Trail is located just past Kirkwood Ski Resort. East on Hwy 88 to Red Lake. Just past Red Lake turn right into what is posted as "private property" (don't worry they just don't want you driving out in the meadows). Follow the road up the side of the peak. At the peak you will be at appx. 8900ft. The view is amazing. Follow the road for about 5 miles past 3 camp grounds. (All alongside Blue Lakes) At lower Blue Lake the road forks. Go to the right and follow it to the Trail Head. It is marked so you can't miss it. the first part of the Trail is where I took the photos. It opens up into a awsome meadow with Deer Creek running through it. IF you get there you will know you are on the right Trail.

Hey Dannyz, do you know of any good trails around Coloma? I'm going camping there at the end of September. My buddy is getting married, he lives in Strawberry. If you know of any place around that area let me know, nothing too difficult I only have 2wd (I know, I regret it every time I read about all you guy's adventures):bash:

Hi ZOSO,
There are many trails near where you will be. In Fact I uesd to run one trail with some buddy's near Strawberry. Called the Strawberry Trail. Your friend may know of it. I don't recomend it for 2wd, but there are lots of forestery roads up there.

It should show a map of the George Town area. Scroll to the South. You will see Coloma Rd. You will be camping in this area.
You should be able to see the Marshall Gold Discovery Site & George Town to the North. Drive into George Town and ask where the Ranger Station is. It should be about 2 miles out of town. There You can get a Forestry map of the area with all the trails on it, both 4wd & 2wd. That is how I find the trails.

The map is only about $6 and well worth it.
I wish I could give you a direct route, but it has been quite awhile since I have Wheeled in that area.

Also if you ask about Stumpy Meadows/Lake Edison... There are some good trails there as well. Not far from George Town.

Thanks so much Dannyz, I really appreciate your quick response. I joined the wesite trails.com and there are a couple trails on there, like the strawbery trail. Thanks for the recommendation for the forestry map.
