First time owner question

Hey everybody, my name is Kyle and this is my first post on here. This is also my 2nd day of owning my 4runner. I used to be big into the diesel world but recently had a child and got married so i sold the diesel and bought the 4 runner. Enough about me now on to my question. I bought the vehicle knowing it needed the water pump replaced. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and like to do most of the work on my own to save some money. I've noticed the power steering pump whining at lower rpms. I flushed the old power steering fluid and replaced it with new mobile 1 atf and its still whining. I've heard that its normal to have this but being new to the vehicle i thought i would ask those of you who know more about them. Is it time for a new pump or is this normal? Thanks in advance for any help and im looking forward to learning all i can about my 4runner.

Your power steering pump is probably starting to go (they whine for a while before they fail), but you may just have gunk on your filter between your reservoir and your pump, so you can try cleaning that before you replace the pump.
