First Toyota - a T4R

Got my very first Toyota today, after 5 Subarus, 3 Honda, and a Nissan. It's an 06 4Runner v6 auto, dark gray, 4wd, 17" allow wheels, moonroof, and other cool stuff.

I wanted to get back to driving the beaches for fishing ... it's been 15 years since my Pathfinder died, and haven't had a 4X4 since. I originally set out to get a Tacoma, but I wanted all the new features, but liked the 01-04 looks, so it wasn't meant to me.

Toyota has a good name when it comes to beach vehicles, so here I am. Glad to have found a good forum for 4Runner owners!

Pretty 4Runner. I wish we'd have some snow down in FL, but its not meant to be. How does it handle the snow? Ive heard a few complaints because of the low ride height, but Im skeptical.

I had 2 Nissans before, xterra and titan, with some minorl problems but ive never had any problems from my 07 with 75,xxx! :trophy:

I've had it just 10 days now, but I've had some snow and ice to drive on. No vehicle handles the snow like the car I traded in ... and 04 Forester, but the 4Runner seems fine. Problem is, around here some times the roads change from dry to snow covered in a blink. Initially I left it in RWD until I get onto snow and then then switch to 4WD on the fly. However, those icy patches can pop up in front of you quickly, so I am leaning towards just keeping it in 4WD on days like that, at least until I hit the main highways!

I went searching for snow covered parking lots that weren't plowed, like at the county parks ... it seemed to handle it well, but it's not like a good snow covered road ... I guess I'll hope for one more good snow before spring, so I can REALLY give it a test :
