First Toyota

New member from Houston, and new to Toyota's all together.

I had a 2007 Z71 Tahoe which was totaled last month. It was great , but with it approaching 100K i wanted to trade it in anyway. since no one was injured, the other driver faulted, and insurance paid out more than trade in would have netted me i wasn't too heartbroken to move on.

Picked up a 2015 Mag Gray Trail Premium on 7/22/15

Thus Far:
- TRD Wheels
- BFG KO2 265/70/17
- TRD 'TOYOTA' Grill
- 35% Front Tint
- Husky Front/2nd/Cargo Liners
- Canvasback 2nd Row Seat-back/Cargo Liner
- Canine Friendly Car Door Protectors
- Precision LED Interior/Exterior Light Kit (6000K White)
- Shrockworks Dimple Plated Sliders (the wait is killing me)

To Come:
- Bilstein 5100 Shocks (either 0.85"F/0"R or 1.75"/1"R)
- Spidertrax 1.25" Wheel Spacers
- Baja Utility Rack
- Gobi Ladder (i guess i will have to mod to work w/ Baja?)
- Linex F/R Trail Bumper (undecided, sometimes i like the silver contrast against the Gray)
- LED light bar (behind grill/on rack/or both + reverse facing)
- Plastidip Rear 4Runner Badge to Match TOYOTA grill

Welcome!

i love seeing other Houston members joining up on the forum! now go get some t4r.org stickers so i can recognize you out on the road and give ya a honk and a wave.

happy trails!

:driving:

thanks, id love to see a Houston member meetup, maybe find a place not too far away to off-road sometime. although it seems like most places are a bit of a hike from here.

Can I get a pic of the canine protectors.? I have dogs and am curious. If you do bilsteins, just go to highest set up with 1" spacer in the rear. I did that with the same wheel spacers you want and tires and think it looks good.

I really like your TRD grill. Did the dealer install prior to delivery?

the parts i purchased while waiting on the vehicle, the dealership agreed to do the install since delivery slipped a week while i was waiting on the wheels/tires.
a note when installing the TRD grill: the 'TOYOTA' garnish piece 3m's over the existing, but is slightly shorter across. there should be about 1/16" gap on either side to be centered properly. at first the dealership lined up the driver side flush to the edge and left about 1/8" on the passenger side. they said no one would ever notice, i told them i would notice every single day haha

here's the door protectors, they function pretty well with couple of notes:
1) there are 4 tabs on the back that slip into the window jam, the 4th tab which inserts into the little triangular window i trimmed down to about 3" to fit in the door space available
2) i dropped a small rock into the center mesh pouch to weight them down, without the weight they tend to crawl out of the jam when rolling the window up, has not been an issue with a small weight (~0.25 lb)

for pets i would also recommend the canvas back liner!

Welcome, I recommend plastidipping the silver trail bumpers black to match your TRD grille.

Truck looks good! Is the inverse of mine.

Thanks, as does yours. I debated getting the slate TRD wheels myself!
I've been going back and forth blacking out the trim pieces, sometimes i really like the contrast, labor day wkend a friend and i are both going to PD in black so that it is still removable if i want to reverse it. vinyl for the roof rails too.

i may open a poll afterwords to see what the public thinks on silver vs black

Awesome looking truck, really like the TRD front grill and wheels!

I'm new to the forum, but just yesterday talked to some random guy in a parking lot that had plastidipped his 5th gen lower center grill part. I like the look and have to do some more research here on the forums about it. Badass looking truck all around!!

I need this.

looks great. How are you liking the LED lights? Did you do high and low beams?

I just did the exterior puddle and license plate lights. For now I did the h11 to h9 low beam and 9005 to 9011 high beam mod. Brighter but not much whiter. Once I finish a few other things I will get something like the morimoto elite hid and xb fogs. Not really sure what to do about high beams since their also used as drl's. That might be a little while tho as I'm pretty happy with the cheap h11 mod

Nice 4Runner! I just bought my first Toyota as well, trying to get enough posts so I can share pictures of my SR5 Premium.
