I bought a 2006 6 cylinder 2WD 4Runner in March. This weekend I made my first twoing trip with my boat. It is about 4500 lbs per a scale at a landfill near Lake Lanier. I picked up the boat Sunday and took it to Lake Oconee - aobut 125 miles each way. I didn't fill up with gas yet to check mileage, so I don;t know how it did in that repsect. As far as ease of pull, I would say it did it better than my '01 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with a 4.7L V-8. Mileage is far better - I'll post when I calculate it. I kept 65 MPH on the interstate. Coming back was 97-99 degrees. We really didn't get out on the lake as much as planned because it was just TOO hot! Overall - very happy with the T4R.

psssst...your supposed to get in the lake when its that hot out..duh!!!
Drive is mostly flat, only a few notable hills.
As for the heat, I don't know that anyone likes it outside when it is near 100 degrees with 80+% humidity. We have a bimini top and the can creat a 60 MPH 'breeze' at will but you can only swim so much. We were on the lake about 6 hours on Monday but cut it to about 2 hours yesterday and just wanted to get home.

But aren't 4Runners great tow vehicles! Our '03 is the second 4Runner I've used to tow my old Porsche to Driver Ed events. Nothing ever breaks and they deliver great over-the-road performance. If someone stole our '03, I'd buy another one in an instant.
