First Wax Job

Atomic 4Runner

New member
Well, wax job isn't exactly right, I use a product called Liquid Glass (http://www.liquidglass.com/) instead of wax.

My previous vehicle was a Mazda Tribute, and I didn't realize how much larger the 4Runner is until I detailed it. The Tribute took two hours, the 4Runner was a 4.5 hour job; but it was a labor of love. It was also a great time to really check the truck over... I found a couple of small nicks on the roof. The guys doing the PDI probably did it attaching the cross members to the roof rack, but they're so minor I'm not going to take the truck back to the dealer.

Looks great. Titanium is a stunning a color when it's clean or dirty. Mine is almost just like yours, same color. I didn't get around to waxing mine yet, it's kept in the garage.

What I learned about waxing is to use a very thin coat (waxing my other car that's outside), really saves on the buffing labor when removing the haze. Not to mention, it took me half the time that usually takes because I put on too heavy/thick of a coat.

I agree with you, a thin coat is the way to go. That's one of the reasons I really like Liquid Glass, a very thin coat is all you need. You can literally wipe off the haze with virtually no buffing required. One coat easily lasts 6 months. A good finish makes it easier to clean the bugs off too!

That Liquid Glass stuff is dangerous, I used it once and saw a fly trying to land on the hood. He slipped and broke his legs. :dancin:

Before my truck arrived, I was not sure I wanted to keep the 18" rims. Now that I've got 'em, I'm sure glad everyone on the forum convinced to keep them. They have a nice polish and clear coat so I hope the appearance lasts for a long time.

Looks real nice!!
And I really like your skid plate, what type is it?
Hard to install?
Thanks for the compliment. The skid plate is the factory installed option front skid plate. It is bolted on with four bolts, two on each side. I think it is aluminum, so it's sure not going to protect like armor. I hope it will still protect the lower radiator from anemic road kill and other lightweight foreign objects.
