First week of 4runner-ing

Hey guys! I'm on day 4 of having my 4runner! I bought a Black 99 SR5 with 190k, lift, and mud tires for $3,000 on Craigslist Atlanta last weekend.. That being said the only other car I've have was a Mitsubishi Eclipse. So yeah I have no idea where to start on a off-roading type vehicle let alone ever an SUV.. but its okay and I've read so many threads on here and I'll figure it out eventually.. I had a bunch of questions and after reading this site for a couple days I still have a couple left so I might as well list them hoping for some help:

1. I want to get fenders for my wheel wells. I don't even know where to start with purchasing and installation. I don't actually think it's called a fender but they are the plastic looking soft back things that go around the wheel well
2. One of the threaded bolts the hold on one of my lug nuts are broken off.. Where would I get that replaced? From what I've read, the thread is 12mmx1.5.
3. Lastly, for now, My driver's side front door sensor doesn't work. To explain: When the door is open, the overhead light doesn't come on. When the door is open, the car is off, the lights are on or off, it doesn't beep.
WHY THIS IS a problem.. hahaha I used the keyfob to unlock the car, put my cell, wallet, and keys inisde, when to look at my tail lights, then came back and the car had locked itself..

If someone actually read all of that I knew the answers.. That'd be a big help..

First off congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum! The first things your asking about are called fender flares. There's probably a few companies that make them but I know for sure bushwacker makes some. The second thing is called a wheel stud and any tire shop should be able to replace that. The third thing could be a few different things like a broken wire or probably some other things but I'm sure someone here has experienced that and will be able to help more. I also add my congrats on your purchase, and for joining the 4Runner family! And as AlbertCraig said, put some pics of your new beast on here--we gearheads like to see our friends' rigs. As for the flares, you might also consider looking in the salvage yards--the 3rd Gen (what you have, from 1996-2002, I believe) had optional flares from the factory that look pretty nice. That is assuming they can be detached without destroying them--I've never done it myself (mine have all been 2nd Gen's). If you plan on doing any work on your truck yourself, you might want to do that wheel stud--it will give you some practice pulling apart the front end. They just hammer in from the back, but you first have to remove the parts to get at it. The biggest thing for someone new to these vehicles is the most obvious--get out there and see how it feels offroad. It's really good if you can find others in your area to go along, so they can watch from the outside and help you with the driving and spotting. I don't know how tall your lift is, but they can make the truck feel like it's going to roll over well before it's actually in danger of doing so. Try driving on different surfaces and see how you like it. Take your time, and enjoy it!
