Pre-Jambo Shakedown Run
[MENTION=95069]TBuzz[/MENTION] and I decided to meet up last week to do a little shakedown run before the Jambo in a couple of weeks. It made for a fun couple of hours and it was good to do a bit of actual wheeling, I haven't done any since Moab in March!
I made the mistake of riding in his truck over the washboard road though, Kings up front and Icons in the rear make for a buttery ride. I'm still happy with my Toytecs up front and 5100s in the rear, but larger shock bodies are in my future when mine are tired.

You mean when I toss a camburg kit on the front and have a spare set of Kings lying around?
I'm just jelly of the wheeling you got in. Cant wait for the jambo, truck is going in to get the swing out rebuilt tomorrow

Also my Duratracs are nearing the end of their useful life (7/32s on all corners pretty much). I have used and abused them and they never let me down, but they are the 3-ply sidewall version and I'm not about to move to the 2-ply they have now.
I have three tires I am trying to decide between right meow - the Cooper ST Maxx, Cooper STT Pro, or Mickey Thompson MTZs.
Opinions?

I just got the ST Maxx put on my rig, in 255s. I've put about 3000 miles on them, they have been offroad 3 times so far. Here are my observations so far...
Most of the offroad I've done with them so far has been dry loose dirt and rocks. To be completely honest, I've been a little underwhelmed. And yes, I've been aired down each time to around 17-18 lbs. I feel like I have to work a little bit harder with them than with my last set of tires, BFG KM2s. We are comparing apples to oranges here, I realize that as the KM2 is a little more offroad dedicated but that's what I've noticed so far. On pavement, they are also a little louder than I anticipated. I was expecting them to be noticeably more quiet than my KM2s but they really aren't. They don't by any means howl though and they are probably not as loud as a worn set of duratracs. I had them in the rain last weekend for the first time, and they did pretty well, more confidence inspiring than the KM2s for sure. Another thing that irritates me is the size. I think they run small. I remember when I picked it up from the tire shop, I looked at it and immediately thought they put the wrong size on! Side by side with my 285s on my other set of wheels they weren't nearly as tall, even though they are both advertised at the same height, 32.8" or something. Kind of disappointed as I wanted narrower tires, but still wanted them as tall. Oh well other than that I am ok with them, they look GREAT. Would I buy them again? Probably not, kind of wish I went with a set of K02s or even another set of KM2s again. I'd be interested to see what people think of the ST Pros though.

I'm in the exact same boat. My current set will get me through the wheeling season, but I'll have to get new tires heading into 2016. I also have the 3 ply sidewalls on my Duratracs, and would be hesitant to go to the 2 ply.
I'll be watching to see which way you go and how you like the results.
Chokecherry is a crazy place, isn't it? You can get yourself into some major trouble within 100 feet of the start on most of those trails. It's just a big playground.

I'm not sure how I will decide. I have heard a strong review on the ST Maxx from [MENTION=95069]TBuzz[/MENTION]. [MENTION=82211]TCMach[/MENTION] is a big supporter of the MTZ. Haven't heard much on the STT Pro yet, but they look great.
I'm debating between pulling the duratracs soon-ish and salvaging one as a spare, then I may be able to sell the other 3 as spares as well (for those who don't run a 5 tire rotation obviously) or running them until they are too close to the wear bars for my liking before buying new.
Chokecherry is awesome! I love normal trail running but man it's nice to be able to drive 2 minutes from airing down and pass 3 or 4 different obstacles.

Colorado Toyota Jamboree August 7-9, 2015
Went to the Toyota Jambo put on by Addicted Offroad near Salida, CO last weekend. Got to meet a bunch of great people and see some familiar faces.
I ended up running Iron Chest on Friday with a big group, but some serious trail traffic (aka 30 Jeeps uphill of us) limited the group to [MENTION=67615]Dirtco[/MENTION] [MENTION=94888]EatonKyleH[/MENTION] [MENTION=108751]ARC[/MENTION] [MENTION=107971]derpiful[/MENTION] [MENTION=88391]NateMob[/MENTION] [MENTION=44220]BigFishAllDay[/MENTION] and myself as the only ones who made it up to the mine and back down.

I was browsing the internet today and thought of you when I saw this....
Skid Mark 4x4 Rear Hitch Skid Plate
I'm not exactly sure what it solves. But then you would have a skid for your "rear slider" and you could leave fatter skid marks and on smaller obstacles than ever before!
Christmas is just around the corner!

I have about 1500 miles on these already which included:
3am highway driving through slushy/snowy roads in Wyoming and Nebraska
Plenty of 70+ MPH highways
Dry gravel roads
Wet gravel roads
Muddy dirt roads (like really muddy, spent $20 at the car wash and it's still not gone. These ****ers fling that shit everywhere.)
And so far they have impressed me.
