Favorite river yet has to be the Salmon in Idaho, big water and probably the clearest River I have ever floated. Sadly did not get the chance to get the rafts out this summer... The family put a few permits in for the Grand next summer though:jump:

2016 Colorado Toyota Jamboree

Had a great time at the Colorado Toyota Jamboree last weekend. Drank some beers with good people, got a few fun trails done and didn't break the truck. I also won a gift card to put towards a Diamond Axle housing from Front Range Off Road, but that's a bit outside of my intentions for this truck.

I'm putting most of the photos on the Jambo thread here - 2016 Colorado Toyota Jamboree. More will be on Flickr as well.

The trails I ran were Baldwin Lake on Thursday afternoon, Wheeler Lake on Friday and Grizzly Lake on Saturday.

Grizzly Lake mostly consisted of winching everyone up the first ledge because it's large and high-centered everyone. After that it was a nice trail.

Suspension Update

Suspension update: Back in October I managed to break one of my rear Bilsteins. I had the rear shocks installed for about 50,000 miles. The piston pulled out of the lower mount and I wasn't comfortable just screwing it back in and leaving it. It was duck season so I rode around on one rear shock for a while before I figured I'd give a bit fancier of a shock a try. Ordered some Icon 2.0s with the remote reservoirs for 4th gen 4runners from Wheeler's Offroad during the sales around Thanksgiving.

On my first install I left the driver side shock oriented with the remote reservoir fitting facing outboard, towards the frame. This was dumb. At ride height the fitting had clearance at the frame, but when the rear axle flexes the shock body moves. I found that out pulling into my driveway at an angle, when I heard a pop and got out to see shock oil everywhere. The reservoir fitting had contacted the frame rail when the suspension compressed hard to the driver side. So I sent it back to Icon to get a new fitting. Once that came back I re-installed with the remote reservoir fitting facing the front of the truck, and so far it has been fine there. The passenger side shock was installed that way from the beginning and had no issues.

At some point this winter I also managed to blow one of my Toytec coilovers. It was leaking shock oil everywhere. I had those coilovers installed for about 65,000 miles. The dude [MENTION=94888]EatonKyleH[/MENTION] happened to be going LT around the same time, so I bought his used Toytec Boss coilovers and Light Racing UCAs. He was kind enough to put new bushings in the coilovers and get new ball joints and bushings for the UCAs.

The Light Racing UCA install kicked my ass. Well getting the upper ball joint out of the spindle kicked my ass. Ended up pulling the spindles and having the Toyota dealer press the old upper ball joints out and pressing the new adapters for the Light Racing Arms in. When I went to get it aligned I was pretty sure it needed tie rods, the shitty Napa ones I put on there about 50,000 miles ago were toast. I ended up having the dealer install a new OEM steering rack and OEM outer tie rods because I was sick of laying on the garage floor. So now most everything on the front end is fairly fresh. But I think one of my brake calipers is sticking...guess I'll fix that later.

Day 1 - Sevenmile Rim. This trail claimed my brother's steering knuckle two years ago (Wipeout Hill). This year it gave us more trouble.

Kyle broke his u-joint letting her buck on a pretty big line...he was working out the kinks this trip (aka broke twice and popped his flare off haha).

After Kyle broke, I offered to drive out to the start of the trail with him since he would only have front-wheel drive. He had to winch a few times, and we got super lost on the way out somehow.

About when we got off the trail and aired up my brother called me and said Jeremiah may have broken some teeth of his rear ring gear on Wipe Out Hill. Kyle and I weren't going to be much help, so we rolled back to camp and waited for the rest of the group. Everyone made it to camp safe, but Jeremiah and Kyle were both broken. My buddies Jeep was also running like shit earlier in the day, misfiring and running hot because the aux fan wasn't kicking on (don't worry we gave him TONS of shit about it). It ended up smoothing out on it's own, but the issues added a bit of stress to the day.

Day 2 - Hell's Revenge. The group thinned out considerably, as Jeremiah headed back to Colorado in FWD. Kyle went to town to get a u-joint. And my Jeep buddy went back to Colorado as well. We did add a stock FJ to the group for this run. I *****ed out on Hell's Gate again, next time I'm in Moab I'm going to do it. We skipped Escalator too, but a few of us did Tip-Over Challenge.

Moab March 2017 Day 3 - Goldbar Rim and Golden Spike

Day 3 – Gold Bar Rim/Golden Spike to Golden Crack and back. This was kind of a last minute decision in the morning. It ended up being fun; it’s been a few years since we have run any of the Trifecta trails.

Getting dark as we got back to Waterfall. Waterfall on Gold Bar Rim is getting enormous. A few years ago our group did all of Gold Bar Rim in the dark, and everyone drove right up Waterfall (including an open/open Jeep on 30s). This year we had to take the super far right line over some big chunky rocks and nearly ate everyone’s quarter panel on a big pointy rock. No photos because it was getting dark and we were a bit worried about getting everybody up (no one had a winch in our group, all 3 trucks with winches were back in Colorado by this time).

Everybody who wasn’t already gone had to roll out in the morning, except my brother and I. So we decided to take it easy and run a couple portions of Dome Plateau before we had to leave.

My brother broke his sway bar in the exact same place as Tyler at some point. Not sure how, it probably wasn’t due to this trail but maybe it was stressed from Gold Bar Rim and gave out when we were driving fast on Dome Plateau.

Nice pics! Dome Plateau, Hells Revenge, and Sevenmile Rim are on my list for next time. That's crazy that both of them broke their sway bar at the same exact place. Mine ripped out of the mounts on that side too on Fins n Things. Strange...
