Fix chrome bumper

I have a few dents in my bumper and it really doesn't bother me but in 2 spots the the chrome flaked off and rust stains run down the bumper and onto the valance. Is there anything I can do to clean it up and seal it so it stops? I don't want to put the money into new bumpers or anything like that.

Thanks,
Ron

sounds like its in rough shape. is it the front or rear? I replaced my front chrome bumper in January with a new one cost me $70 for the chrome bumper piece and it was easy to replace if its the front your dealing with, easy little project.

I second what gornish_hick said.... replacement bumpers can be found for cheap... and easy to replace! :)

I did mine over a year ago, and it brought new life to the front of my truck! :)

If the chrome has "flaked" off, it's likely because it rusted through the back side. Especially on the back quarters.

i think i'm going to go the perkins route like"4runit" did for his rear.. they have nice fronts too..

Ya replacing them is the way to go. Replaced the cnter section of my rear bumper on my 97 Runner. Bought the bumper off E-Bay for like $80. The bext thing to do is to get new bumper bolts from the dealer because they are probably rusted and will break like mine did.

OOps made a mistake, it wasnt $70, it was $140 for a new one (just found my receipt). I picked it up through a local auto parts store. It came from a company called Monidex Distribution International.

thanks guys...
yeah, i have had it with rusty bumpers.... now my options are to powdercoat the new ones or go with that "rhino lining" on the bumpers.. i kinda dig that... might do that on the rock rails too..
