Fix for Mirror Wind Noise?

While driving in windy conditions, my side view mirrors will occasionally produce an obnoxiously loud noise from the wind. The best way to describe the noise is a multi-amplified version of blowing over an empty Coke bottle. Has anyone come up with a way to stop this noise? I searched and only came up with a couple of threads that even mentioned this problem (but with no fix).

This happens to me too in really windy conditions.

I don't know of any real fixes to this problem, but I am assuiming that you have the older square style mirrors (the 96-99 style). Since this really bothers you, you should consider getting the 00-02 style mirrors. They were redesigned to be more aerodynamic and cause less noise (I think).

You probably can get a pair off ebay or go to your local junkyard. Changing the mirrors shouldn't be that hard. There are a couple of screws on the bottom of the mirrors, so it would be a matter of taking those off and changing the wires over. Hope this helps.

I have an 01' as well and have noticed the same thing. I haven;t found a remedy other than folding the mirrors in, but I'd rather listen to the noise than loose my side mirrors. My current solution is to crank the stereo:rocker:
