Fix for the Driver's seating popping??

I just purchased a new 08 Sport Edition V-8 4x4 in May and I have been developing what has been referred to as a driver's seat popping which occurs with lateral movement ie: right or left hand cornering. I can't tell if it is coming from the lombar area or from lower down on the track. Very subtle, but it's beginning to annoy me! I've read threads about it here starting with the 03 model manual seats (mine of course is electronically adjustable). I have not read that there is a permanent fix...so before I head over to the dealer for my first free oil change I'm hoping to have as much information available to offer possible fixes to the service advisor.

I hate when this crap happens on a brand new vehicle. My 05 Sport was perfect in every regard until I traded it for an 07 Tahoe LTZ. I love the 08 but want to make sure I address this issue ASAP...thanks for the feedback folks...much appreciated.

I have that same problem in my 2008 4R. So far I've visited the dealer twice and will go back again for this same issue as soon as I can schedule an appt. The first visit they oiled the seat track and the noise was back after a week of driving. The next visit they replaced the seat track and it came back after 1000 miles. They will probably replace the complete seat frame next.

I had the same problem in my 2006 4R and after 4 or 5 visits the dealer finally ended up replacing the complete seat frame to fix the issue. I expect they will have to do the same thing to fix the issue in my 2008.

I'm not sure how many folks have experienced this issue, but it seems this is an issue that shouldn't have made its way out to production.

On the flip side, both of the 4Runners I've owned have been extremely reliable and the mechanicals have functions spot on and the truck is an absolute joy to drive.

Why are the 2008's still having this issue? I'm really questioning Toyota quality. I don't think Toyota really cares.

Are there seat issues across the Toyota lineup?

People been complaining about this since the 2003 model year. After 5-6 years still no solution from Toyota?

The majority of these early complaints have been with manual seats. Toyota put out a TSB for an upgraded manual seat frame but I missed the deadline due to running out of warranty. Not sure what they are doing for electric seats but haven't seen too many complaints here.

If I recall correctly the TSB was for seat movement which did help me for some time before it slowly came back; but the Popping remains even after two attempts from Toyota dealers to fix it after the TSB was done.

Fixing the issue addressed in the TSB had no effect on the seat popping on my 2006 and 2008 4Rs. Both of my trucks were Limited's with leather seats.
