Fixable?

Well, unfotunately the weld didn't hold. Went to check up on this during the week and saw the control arm just hanging there.

Might try inserting a pipe and welding or scraping the truck.

What would you guys do?

I used the above mentioned Lower Control Arm mount frame sleeve on my 97 and it’s was worth every penny.

I clean out the pipe slide a steel thick gas pipe though and weld it into place. I also fill it with fluid film and seal it off. I cap off those tubes to save the new replacement pipe.

With a replacement pipe in there. You can weld the thin old pipe rusted through areas up and grind smooth.

If you want to keep it. I clean that stuff up especially those coil plates and coat and try to slow the rust down...

Damn I'm glad I don't live in the rust belt. That said apparently CDOT switched over to some pretty caustic stuff a few years ago for the roads out here. My goal atm is to be extremely diligent about washing off the frame asap when I offroad anywhere with mud snow and anytime I think I might have driven on salted roads. Will probably also do the fluidfilm treatment as well.

The bracket is still decent. So just put it in place. Use the steel gas tube and weld it back on.

Be good for a while. You can even drill and bolt it back on then weld too.

I have had them even rust off the axle housing... :/

I just wanted to add on how to fix from my previous comment. Hope this helps.

The reason the weld didn't hold is nothing is left on that area of the pipe is all.

I have one that did that ..
