Fixing rust on the rear quarter panel.

Has anyone ever replaced the area (in photos thats rusting) below? What would be the easiest way to go about it?

1. Remove the piece sandblast it, patch it, paint?

2. Cut out the infected material. Find donor 4runner and chop out section and fabricate it into mine. Then paint?

3. Cut out the infected material fabricate entirely new piece then fab into mine. Then paint.

4. Buy a Jeep (This is not the correct answer) :lmao:

In all seriousness I need your help. I don't wanna fudge up.

I'm dealing with the same rust on my 94, as well above the wheel wells. I've successfully repaired the wheel wells with fiberglass mat/resin, then bondo, then paint. I haven't done the spot in question though yet. I've ground it out but am thinking of alternatives before I begin the repair.

The expensive/proper way to fix it would be to fabricate something or have a welder repair it. Either way you have some options.

Option 2 or 3 will get the best results. You might find more rust once that plastic piece comes off. THe only way top get rid of rust is to remove it.
